I'm currently trying to put together a bag with all my essentials when I go somewhere with the horses. What are the things you always bring with you? Any recommendations for things to bring for horse and/or rider? I'm obsessive about first aid stuff! I always have to have medical things for all situations!

1st aid box for equine is on the box, also human.
My travel handbag has spare fags & lighter, polos, passport, water bottle and sweets.
I then have a waterproof bag with a couple of bottles of water, 2 mugs, sugar tub, coffee jar, teaspoon and little catering pots of milk (I buy a box of them off ebay every so often). I just add a thermos of hot water each time. This bag goes in if am doing anything apart from a private lesson locally.

Otherwise there is the spares bags packed in all the time.
One with complete change of clothes. The other with tack spares, from girth to stirrup leathers, reins, bits etc. Despite me usually putting in a 2nd bridle.
Hi vis jackets are in the back and 1 hangs on the back of my seat.

Lots of gubbins.... then grooming kit, tack cleaning kit, full tack, hats, boots, gloves etc...

If a hack then it is just phone or apple watch, horse wearing at least headcollar with rope if not tacked up plus I always wear a hard hat. For a day out competing or training the list is endless, but beyond the obvious good to always have some spare bailer twine, cable ties and electrical tape.

A torch is always useful in many situations, tools for emergency like having to dismantle a partition. Money.
Some food and drink. Contact details in case you get a bang on the head. Really, the list is endless.

I've never thought of the contact details. That's really useful thank you!

For me- Flask with coffee! Painkillers. I am prone to sudden migraines with aura and if I get the warning sign I can get medication down me to lessen it or I’d be stranded unable to see properly. I always take food, even if just a chocolate bar and a bottle of lucozade. Spare t-shirt and jumper and a waterproof jacket. Always make sure I have a pocket for my phone and keys.

For horse- Lunge line, first aid kit, water, spare headcollar and leadrope.

When I took my horse to RoR camp for 4 days I brought a FULL first aid kit (including drugs, suture material, stomach tube suitable for TB, etc.) - basically emptied most of my work car into the horsebox! I was one of two equine vet campers - probably a good idea with 30 TBs in one place, as we needed it twice!

However, when we go anywhere else we hope for the best and take nothing. Probably ought to be more prepared for when the giant youngster starts going XC ?
