Ok I'll start this off.
So last year's was lose the 17kg I had packed on over the years, get fit and also to get a dog. Happy to say I made my goal weight and have kept it off for a year plus I also now have giant puppy snoring at my feet. So far, so good. 😀
So this year I was approached to return to my old job after a 5 1/2 year absence for what was just a temporary fill in position for a month to help out a former colleague. She quickly persuaded me, albeit reluctantly on my part to go permanent (as it was the easy option for me at the time).
My New Year's resolution this year is to bravely say "take that job and shove it!!".
I'm finally going to try and realise a 30 year dream to of joining the Police Force.
My motto "Never too old to be bold!"
So ok, over to you lot. What are your New Year's resolutions? ... And did your resolution for this year be realised?

Well done on achieving your goals for this year. Love your new ones for 2017 too. Go for it

My resolutions for 2017 in a nutshell is to have more fun, and cut the chaff out of my life. So, specific goals are to get my youngster out to a few clinics, and attempt our first dressage test. Then work on some small jumps, and get ready for horse camp

Good work in 2016 op! And best of luck with the 2017 goals, brave pants required I'd say!!

I had a confidence destroying 15/16 personally, work wise and with horses so my goal for 2017 is to stop worrying and just relax and enjoy my job that I worked hard to get and my amazing horse that landed in my lap after I swore off them altogether! That was 2016s goal too and we didn't quite get there so I'll work a bit harder in '17...

Nice goals OP. Hope you follow your dream job for 17 too.
In 16, I did well to jack a vile job in and fought to secure a place on an MA in Social Work at one of the top universities in the country.
For 2017 my goal is to get my horse through his recuperation malarkey, and during the summer, take him out and try showing at County level.

2016 has been a crazy year so this coming year I'd like to take a step back and relax more. I'll be looking out for a project pony in February/March and working on continuing to lose weight inbetween. I'm hoping for a positive year this year with less mad running around :)

I need to lose some weight (mind you, I've been needing to lose it for ages!) and I also wantto continue building up my business.

I am going to stop getting het up by foolish talk and actions and become more tolerant. Well, I have only been working at it for sixty years, this might be the year I succeed!

You are impressive to the point of being inspirational OP - well done :) :)

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your replies. I was thinking I'm an old fool for wishing for the impossible. Having desperately wanting to join the police force since I was in my late teens (as my late dad was a homicide detective) but shelved the idea as the OH who was then just 'the boyfriend' made it clear he didn't want to be involved with a 'copper' I gave up my dream.
Fast forward and OH recently said "well I think it's time for both of us to do what we want to do rather than what think we should do". He asked me what I really wanted. I simply replied "what I've always wanted and what my dad would be proud of". He knew and said "well I'll spend my time worrying about you but if it makes you happy then I'm happy for you". Yippee!!! So at the ripe age of 51 years I'm about to sit the Police entrance exam. Oldest recruit to date is 61 so if he can then I can. Wish me luck.
Hope all of you at HHO realise your dreams for 2017. ❤️

Have registered to do the wobbleberry challenge this year (BE80 ). My resolution this year is to get my confidence back riding especially in the school and stop being such a wimp. I know I can do so really need to stop listening to the what ifs x

2016 was an ok year, I'm glad nothing terrible happened, but it could have been better!

Have happy, healthy horses and dogs
Get fitter, healthier and work on my self confidence/ esteem
Be more organised
Compete Amber in a BE80 (Wobbleberry Challenge)
Compete Matti in a BD Elem class (his version of WB as he can't do the jumping)

Loose some weight
Get to some competitions
My last one is selfish I am going to stop running around after other people so much .

So as Gump has finally decided he's not stupid:

- compete in an unaffiliated Novicr dressage class
- go eventing, maybe to a BE80 by the end of the year.
- go showjumping.
- kick my anxiety in the bum and stop worrying about going places alone!

To bliddy we'll get me and fat cob out more. 3 years I've owned him and only gotten out a handful of times - this year, I think was twice 😖

I also want to stop being nervous of jumping, and crack it this year!!

Also want to kick start a new career as a building surveyor. After being a "stay at home mum" for a while, the thought of going back to a full time office job dreads me. I love being out and about 😊 We already own a Building Surveying company but I want to do more than the admin part!

To be more flexible and to stop trying to micromanage my life.

I'd love to go to Canada and the US with my OH this year. The only thing stopping us is me being so sensible and thinking of all the other more sensible things I could be doing with the money!

Last year my resolution was to ask more questions and to try to find out more about everything I was curious/lacking knowledge in, and I stuck to it (which is the first one I've ever stuck to).

Boring resolution, but I have GOT to lose weight. I'm too heavy for the little rescue horse I bought, so need to shake a stone off. Having pigged out big time on goodies over Christmas I was pleasantly surprised when I got on the scales this morning to see that I haven't put more weight on, so that has spurred me on to make an effort over the coming weeks. Horse is on a schooling livery at the moment, so I've got to start dieting now to get the weight off for when he's sufficiently schooled for me to start riding him - incentive if ever there was one!

Well done OP, very inspirational,
2016 was a bit of a wash out, I'd expected to sell my house and start a new life in a horsey area and with all the support I need to get my first horse. Unfortunately my house has been slow to sell. On the bright side it's meant I've had time to save money.
Today I made an offer on a new home so I'm planning to continue to lose weight, move house then find my first horse (ideally highland pony)

2016 was fairly horrible for me, but I've ended it with a new job I love, having left a job I'd been in for nearly 20 years that I'd grown to loathe. I now work on the civilian side of the police and love it, so OP, I'd say go for it!
For 2017, I'm going to buy a new horse. This time it will definitely be a mare, and hopefully the seller won't be a nut job and the horse won't be sedated!!

I've managed to stick to my 2015/2016 resolution to lose weight, which I'm pleased about. I went from a size 14-16 to an 8-10 (sometimes even a 6 :D )

Now I've lost weight and maintained it, I want to quit smoking once and for all in 2017.

I want to save more money too - I've downloaded an budgeting app and crelated a spreadsheet at work to track all my spending, so hopefully I can reach my goal of putting away a set amount every month.

2016 has been a great year horse-wise as we've cracked our hacking issues and his schooling has come on in leaps and bounds. We even started to jump this year (small, admittedly). In my last lesson, even my instructor said she barely recognised him as the same horse from a year ago, so I'd like to consolidate on that and keep him happy & healthy.

Great, go for it - and I'm sure you won't need luck ;-)

Mine as usual is to make an effort with my appearance as i dont want to look like an old bag lady.
To face the fear and do it anyway with my new young horse and get out to clinics etc.
To worry less and stop trying to organise everyone and enjoy the here and now.

2016 was fairly horrendous for me. I don't think 2017 will be any easier - my resolution is to decide whether to buy the horse (and box) I've been dreaming of since a kid (as job hours, salary, savings and support are now there), or go travelling with my OH...

I would like to lose weight, get a new job (that has a better salary) and meet someone lovely to settle down with 😚

Also would like to crack on with the horses and get them both fit and out and about.

On a horses note I want to build on my progress this year, stop worrying and just get on with it. I want to go out to clinics and have some fun!
On a personal note, I'd like OH and I to move house into the countryside, I'd like to learn to stick up for myself a bit more (I always think of good things to say a good 10mins after that ship has sailed), stop worrying about things I can't change, and get back into a size 10, I could do with loosing a stone maybe two.

Not so much of a resolution but
Try have one year where I do not loose someone I love
Try not to damage a part of my body
