I have recently started looking for another horse as my Nessy was put to sleep Christmas 2008 after a hunting accident. I am looking for a horse that I can bring on and do some local dressage, hunter trials, fun-rides and hunt with. I need something 16hh+ 5-10 yrs of age. I have a budget of £5k and I want a horse with a good bit of bone and an affectionate personality! Mare or gelding I am not really fussed!!

This boy sounds lovely, but the price seems to good to be true! So what are your thoughts? Also if anyone knows of anything that may suit please let me know!! Thanks in advance!

The person selling him is a dealer so could be any reasons if she is not a reliable one. I say go and see him but definately have him vetted by someone you trust, you may of found yourself a little bargain!

Lovely. Well worth a look but obviously have a 5 stage vetting. You do sometimes come across dressage horses with fab bloodlines cheaply. I've got one! Don't be put off by the price.

He looks fabulous and the ad seems very 'open'.
Maybe this is the credit crunch rather than the horse?

lol, If I didn't have a house full I'd go and look!
Go for it but with vetting and your eyes open

Another vote for what a beautiful horse ! And sounds like a little gent, but again go with open eyes and definitly get a vetting xx

Good luck

IMO sounds a bit too good to be true at that price.
Worth a look though.

When you ring up I would try and find out some history, why it's been sold on, ask if you can have the previous owners details and phone no and if they are unwilling to give you this info I would be highly suspicious.

Sounds and looks lovely, but seams a bit strange that they go on about hacking so much and the only picture is of him standing still if he is going to be a competition horse.

Definately worth a look though.

Looks a lovely horse, very smart. Reading between the lines - I would query his jumping as its hardly given a mention. Defintely worth a call though.

Dealers dont often photograph to the best of the horse ability, and are often wanting a quick £500 rather than to have something sat there for a few months eating its own profit. I would definately go see it if they cant provide tel number for previosu owners this isnt a big deal my number is not on any of my passports so anyone selling mine wouldnt know the number either.
Go have a look you may have to be quick as not everyone is as pessamistic as some on here!

Thank you all very much for your thoughts!! I will give her a ring tonight and try and find out what the catch is if anything!! Will definitely get a 5* vetting, have been well and truly trounced by a dealer before and it won' be happening again!!! He does sound too good to be true so I shall be especially wary and take my instructor with me too! Thanks again!

As it happens Claire doesn't have many facilities, she is more on a start up then established and she has to make do and mend. She tries to turn horses around quickly to enable some investment into the yard, therefore prices them very competitively. Having said all that, go with your eyes open and have it vetted.
