Wanted Ads??

Wondering if they have helped anybody to find a horse, or if they are just a waste of time. I have been thinking of putting one up but if they don't do much to help then I might not...

I've got a wanted ad on Preloved at the moment although I'm looking for someone to ride/share my horse rather than for me to buy. I've had a few responses but not loads.
I don't know anyone that has responded to a wanted to buy ad but it's worth a go :)

Its how I found my daughters pony.
I needed something quite specific, and got had the choice of three that I just would not have otherwise found!

I'm glad others found their horses like this! I think I'm going to put one up, just wanted some reassurance as no one in my family is very horsey :D

If you do get responses then don't forget to treat them with the same kind of scepticism that you have when you go to view a horse that you've seen advertised for sale. When all said & done the response to a wanted advert is still someone wanting to sell their horse...OK. The same rules apply! ;)

They definitely can work! I put a wanted ad up a year or so ago, I was after a loan horse and got SO many responses. I really wasn't expecting many as it was in summertime (when everyone wants to keep / ride their horses), but I had so many responses - and I'm still getting some now as the bloody advert hasn't been taken down from one site, despite hundreds of emails to them asking to remove it!

I got the most responses from equine adverts, think it only cost about £2.99 to post an advert, and was definitely worth it. There are quite a few wanted ads on horsequest and it's quite a busy site so that might be a good one to try too, though I didn't get a chance to put my wanted ad on there as i'd already had so many replies from the others.
