What bad habits do you have when you ride ie position

My toes stick out. I also walk like a penguin with my feet not straight. Have done since I was little so when I turn my feet straight, my knees turn in and grip the saddle. :(

I hate seeing pics of my legs when I ride. I also need to deepen my seat and work without stirrups but that makes me nervous because at college I had to ride some naughty horses without stirrups and I fell off a few times when they took off/spooked.

Another lookey-downer here... *waves*

Aaaargh it's so hard to break!!! Someone once said, pretend your boobs are headlights... thank goodness I tried it the school first :D

(and no don't try that one, think of something else... )

i give the reins to much when jumping sometimes, think i socked a horse in the mouth once when i was learning to jump, felt awful, i get alot of "theres no need to give all the reins to the horse over the jump"from instructor :o hope i get it right somethimes as he dosn't always say it! also sometimes in canter i loose a stirup guessing thats due to heels not being down enough

i dont wrap my feet around quite enough :) also i used to put my thumb through both sides of the reins-if that makes sense lol

Thanks so much for your replies and for being so honest too!! I just remembered that a instructor also said to me once that I had a flabby bottom!?!? Wasn't sure how to take that one!

Rounded shoulders. It's been my bete noir since I was a kid. I still hear my very first riding instructor's voice yelling, "Shoulders back!" every time I ride.

I also have a sloppy lower leg. Getting back into riding after ten years away, and carrying more weight in different places has proven a challenge as far as that goes. It's improving but I won't be jumping any time soon!

I've taken to riding along looking at the floor. I also seem to ride in a light seat the whole time having ridden youngsters for so long!

I lean too far forward, but i think it's something to do with my body protecter as i find it impossible to sit upright when wearing it, but i'm fine without it.

Another one who tips forward slightly, thinks it has appeared from riding the strong ones for too long riding with bridged reins. Also seem to put more weight on the outside of my stirrups, I walk like this anyway so it seems to be the way I am! Does bugger up your knees and ankles a bit though especially when riding work on the horses. :/

Where to begin? Well like a few others on here I am guilty of looking down too much. Also tipping forwards in canter, fixing my inside hand on left rein, twisting my right shoulder forward, collapsing my left hip. Its a miracle I manage to stay on board at all. The worst thing is I know I have these faults, and I get lessons, but I find it really hard to make the required changes :( And I'm probably ruining my lovely horse too.

Lower leg pops forward (only my right leg, oddly), I drop my hands, my toes sometimes poke out and I constantly look down.

I'm amazed I can get Dylan to do anything lol.
