to do with horse ownership? I dont mean unfortunate accidents ,illness and disease, but man made things, things done by other people. I'll start the bowl rolling with what,so far,has happened to me. Had a leather headcollar stolen when I was a new owner,a young teenager. We all knew who on the yard had taken it, but this light fingered person took good stuff from everyone so we put it down to experience. I had feed go missing too. Youths threw stones and bricks at the horses whilst they were stabled.Later I rented my own place on a farm and did a few liveries and gave lessons, two clients booked lessons on a bank holiday then didnt turn up,didnt pay and ruined that particular bank holiday, then some of the liveries said they hadnt had hay they had paid for. totally untrue but we gave them some more bales anyway. Then I had non payers and fly -by-nights who just disappeared owing money. I gave up liveries when we moved to our own smallholding. they are not worth the hassle IMO. But I do sell a bit of hay and straw. I have had people collect hay or straw and not bring enough cash, then the cheque for same doesnt arrive and I have to chase them, one particular person being quite an eminent person in the neighbourhood too, who tried to get the fodder for less than half the agreed price. Then theres occasional issues with motorists I've even had my stirrup clipped with a car. What is it with people?
