What balanacers do you all use?

I'm just wondering if you use one and if so which one? What are your thoughts on them? What do you feed them with?

None. Horses all look 100%, pasture and hay is tested periodically and there is no major imbalance or deficiency, so no need.

Top Spec lite - one gets it with a little soak speedibeet - the other with soaked high fibre cubes. Vet school recommended it.

If there isn't an imbalance you don't need a balancer! First look at what the imbalance is and then choose something cost effective that addresses it. Otherwise you are just paying for expensive poo....

And yes - I have fed balancers in the past and would not hesitate to do so again if needed.

None - big lad is thrown out of balance so easily I darent give him anything broad spectrum, I just control his forage closely instead. Micro mare meanwhile I did try to give something to as she had very poor feet on arrival (plus a couple of other minor ailments), but she treats many foodstuffs as poison and throws it back at me so I gave up.

Tailored to my unbalanced water supply and land. I supplement copper to balance iron and manganese, zinc to balance the copper, calcium to balance the phosphorous in bran that I feed, magnesium, selenium and brewer's yeast because it's good for the gut.

I don't give a broad spectrum balancer to one of mine because it seems to cause her to get sluggish and lethargic - I'm not sure why. She gets vitamin E, l-glutamine, magnesium separately and seems fine on that. I recently thought it would be a good idea to give her a copper supplement (she's barefoot and I'm paranoid). It wasn't a good idea and I need to stop fiddling.

My gelding gets either forage plus or progressive earth as he has awful feet. He's been on a good quality balancer for over 2 years now and they are still shocking so I obviously haven't got something right.

Our hay supply is irregular so I haven't tested it.

Possible protein absorption problem? One I know needs a high protein diet to stop her feet cracking.

Top Spec Anti-Lam for the Diva and Speedy T is finishing off the hooligans Lo-Cal before I decide whether she needs something different. Hooligan not currently on anything as his retirement fields have got mountains of grass and I'm not up there everyday to feed him.

I've always fed equivita or pro balance as not wanting to feed fillers, but this summer my boy stopped eating it as too much powder in his little feed so I tried the Spillers multi balancer as thought it would be better than nothing, and can honestly say he's never looked or felt better!

I have my fella on Dodson and Horrell Ultimate balancer. Although I will take him off it soon for the summer I think. I tried him with the top spec one and he went doolally altogether, so I took him off again.

equimins adv. complete, but I add magnesium as it doesn't have a lot- otherwise it fits the spec of my grazing analysis quite well. When I removed the mag while we having other issues my pony ended up with fat pads where he wouldn't normally so that was promptly re introduced :p.

Forage plus all the way. For his stable Cough and in general always get comments on how good his coat looks. He's barefoot and was a bit stone sore but his feet are now SOLID. I used both hood and skin and the normal one and haven't noticed much of a difference using either or but he's not terribly imbalanced. Both give him good overall support

We went crazy on Topspec too, came off that quick! I use stud balancer now

Was on Dodson and Horrell Ultimate balancer which I really liked but in order to save money just use Heygates one now. 22yr old looks fab. Mine fed with Top chop lite and a handful of Heygates nuts pus Tumeric and flax oil, Brewers yeast and Buteless. Brewers yeast seems to have stopped him chewing wood and running his teeth down the inside of his stable. TBH I'm not completely up with all the ins and outs of feeding different things together and just rely on how well my horse looks and feels.
