FMN your bed puts me to shame!

After lots of attempts to make my messy boy less messy I have found that rubber mats and full bed of shavings is best. Tried rubber mats how they are supposed to be used and it was just soooooooooo messy!

Now I've gone the other way - had mats with full shavings bed with banks and its such a mess every day, Asti digs it up and buries droppings and mixes hay in - she's horrible!

So I've gone for a bedding "square" and a few sprinkles on the rest and its tons easier. Not too piddly, the square is reasonably deep, and not as much dug up mixed in mess.

Its much better and quicker and she seems happy with it.

I'm on straw, as its free, lol.

I deep litter, as this is just sooooo easy. I just poo pick and only muck out the wet once/twice a year. It takes such little time to do and the straw doesn't get wasted. i just top up with clean straw when needed, plus it keeps very clean anyway. Best way IMO.

I use a hemcore base under a big,thick straw bed...so couldn't do your poll

Brighteyes, I'm thinking about trying Nedz Bed Pro for my gelding. He isn't very wet but does tend to tred in his droppings overnight. As a result his nice white shavings bed quickly turns into a brown mulch. Do you think Nedz Bed Pro might suit him? The stable is fully rubber matted. Do you follow the manufacturer's advice and just take the droppings out each day and the wet weekly? This is also attractive to me as I get up at 5am to do him before work and this might give me a few extra mins in bed!

hate it think its a horrible bed unless theres loads in there(then its hard to muck out!) but shavings are mega expensive up here.

[/ QUOTE ] i use this bedding and do follow instructions and it is brill so quick and easy and i only use 1 bale per week each stable so cheap too, mine are on rubber matting so i only bed down rear of stable. try it you wont be dissapointed
