I use easibed and hemp mixed! I lift the beds and take out the wet daily.
I use about one and half bales per horse a week.......3 horses that's 41/2 a week!!!!

I use straw in the winter, and nothing in the summer (there's usually some straw left over from winter though). He's only in for a few hours every month or so in the summer.

We use rubber mats with megazorb - which is absolutely fantastic

easy to muck out and no smell

However my pony who is on box rest at the moment in on rubber mats with Aubiose mixed with megazorb which works brilliantly too

Now i would never use anything else. I remember when i was 8 with my first pony which was kept on straw and i thought i was so lucky when i was allowed to keep her on shavings for a while!

rubber mats with easibed... am mixing shredded paper in at the mo as well, mostly as it seems the best way to recycle all the stuff I am shredding after the last house clean!

i use shavings with my shetland who will eat anything, and was using straw with my cob, but im going to try shavings with him this year in the hope it will help dry out his feathers quicker when they are plastered in mud! thats if it doesnt cost a small fortune, he's sooooo messy!!!

Atm Rocks is on Easibed as thats what the yard has to use - i hate it!!!
When I move up to Notts he will be on shavings - A nice deep bed.

I use approx 4 inches of Bedmax with 18 inch banks on rubber matting. The stables are skipped out 3-4 times a day and fully mucked out once per day.

i use cardboard chippings (Ecobed) on rubber mats. i do about 1/3 of a bed at the back of the stable (8" deep and from the back wall forward, about 4') and muck it out really carefully about 4 times a day. it only takes 4 mins to do, doesn't smell, doesn't break down with use and go dusty (unlike shavings), absorbs everything, is very warm, nothing eats it, the print doesn't come off (unlike paper), and it rots down really fast... wormery worms love it! i've used it for about 7 years and wouldn't change.

I prefer shavings over straw. A shavings bed for me is more ecomnoical and lasts a lot longer if managed correctly. I find straw to be hard work, especially in the winter.

i can't stand straw... they eat it, and it doesn't absorb, so unless your drainage is exceptional and you're prepared to wash the floors down frequently, it'll stink. shavings are good, but imho cardboard is even better... i can really tell the difference in the dust levels in my barn, between those two types of bedding.

I use shredded rape straw with menthol. Its £4.75 for a bale (the same size as shavings)..only it far more absorbant and far less wasteful.

we use rubber matting covering the whole area of the stable floor then shavings covering 3/4 of the stable
