Not unusual in harness racing, I think it’s a tongue layer in there with the gag riding bitI think that has the old tongue plate attachment which is what is attached to the bridoon slip head- haven’t seen one of those in years. Then it’s a cheltenham gag on the rest

I’m sure he can be! A tongue layer simply keeps tongue under whatever bit, in itself, no impact on speed, steering, etc, altho maybe a psychological effect.Yes he can be a tricky one!
