I have my horse in a loose ring french link snaffle but she can get a little strong and start running through my hands a bit. We're working on the half halts etc but I'm wondering whether to try something just a tiny bit stronger.

There's such a vast choice of bits out there that it's hard to know what to try, so I'd be really interested to hear what you use for schooling.

Iuse a KK ultra loose ring snaffle.

I think that once you go down the route of putting stronger bits in.. you start cutitng your options.

If I was you I would be tempted to get a loose ring french link snaffle made for cyprium. The KK bits are around 60 off of ebay, but cheeper versions are available.

Generally a full cheek snaffle with lozenge and copper mouthpiece. However if he starts leaning and being silly I will swap him into a loose ring waterford for a few sessions.

Loose ring snaffle with oval link.

Might be worth trying a Hanging cheek snaffle on your horse as they are slightly stronger.

i used to use a french link, drop cheek snaffle, as its what my lad came with, however after a year decided to change it for a d ring snaffle with a peanut type link (no idea of proper name) and he goes much better in it, dont think he likes poll pressure, he's a bit claustrophobic (sp) about most things!!
But the drop cheek was a good bit, just not really for him x

eggbutt bog standard single jointed snaffle 9/10

if wanting more work and practicing for showing etc then the french link pelham goes on....

It was a loose ring french link snaffle, but must be the only one to go down a bit on a idiot arab, I've changed to a stright bar rubber fixed ring lots of flex. lol Learning to control front and back end with my seat classic riding instructors you've got to love them

I use a loose ring snaffle on both of mine but as i do dressage in a double bridle i try to use this in every other one of my lessons as i do get a different feel from my boy in it. I also use a tom thumb for xc which gives me a little more breaks when needed.

I use a loose ring snaffle with a revolver mouthpiece for everything, but then I have cob who thinks he's a donkey

George was a bit like your horse when in a loose ring french link snaffle and I now have him in a myler mullen mouth hanging cheek - expensive but fabulous!

one wears a hanging cheek french link

one in a plain french link loose ring

one in a hippus

i have always schooled in a snaffle of some sort on every horse i have had or ridden- there is such a huge variety of snaffles you should be able to find one to suit your horse without resorting to stronger bits

Mullen mouth eggbutt most of the time

Some prefer the same with french link. Just trialing Pip with single joint with rollers.
