16.1 Selle francaise mare and I use a fixed ring snaffle with a flash for everything. Tried a couple of bits when I first go her as we had some real issues, but they all felt wrong and to heavy, so went back to good old schooling and fingers crossed that has worked out so far!
mine is a shire x tb, (but not got much shire)
She was really strong and had a dutch gag last year.
She has now learnt to respect me when I ask for transitions and is in an eggbutt snaffle
I use a loose ring, straight bar, happy mouth snaffle.
I have a 14.2ish nutty mare but she's very fussy about her mouth and this is the only thing she likes/tolerates other than a hackamore.
I vary between a full cheek copper snaffle with lozenge and a loose ring waterford. I have a 17.1hh clydesdale x, I vary to try and stop him leaning while still trying to improve our dressage in a BD legal bit.
I have a 19yo arab gelding, and he is in a loose ring snaffle with a lozenge for everything, with a flash for jumping.
He also goes in a hanging cheek snaffle if he is getting a bit attitudey which reminds him to behave and keep is head down, then he goes back into the loose ring again!
Bodey Cob- French Link Snaffle. Because thats what he been in from the start and its nice and gentle. Plus he goes well in it.
Badger the Fjord- Full Cheek Snaffle. Because he needs a bit extra help with the steering and straightness, so the cheek pieces help. He goes well in it.
loose ring single link for schooling
nathe gag for hacking (stops him being spooky and no excuse at his age)
XC/hunting pelham
sj french link hanging cheek as he takes more of a contact on that than the loose ring.
I have a 16.2 Oldenburg mare who is a bit gobby, Ive tried all sorts but currently she is in a Hippus loose ring snaffle which she seems ok in. Im hunting her in a couple of days for the first time, and am probably going to go for a jointed pelham just until I know what she is like with me - don't want to disgrace myself, and she goes quite nicely in a pelham.
14.2hh irish cob mare,19yrs old, eggbutt snaffle, on the whole she is very easy and not alot of trouble, sometimes she can be a spooky tit! but she does not tend to get strong at all
i have 2 IDx TB's (1 in the process of being backed, just 3, and her mum whos 15), a 17.3hh WB and a 14.1hh Wlesh D. All of them are ridden in loose ring snaffles - aurigan KK's
My 15.1hh TBx is in a happy mouth dutch gag. I can school him in a snaffle but the brakes aren't as good so I tend to stick with the gag most of the time.
