I have an almost 4 year old cob and after his teeth have been seen to,i am going to bit him for his first time.Well i did put 1 in for a second to see what size he is needing.I am think the happy mouth with full cheek, just wondering what everyones opinions are? what bit would you recommend?

Normal loose ring snaffle bit to start. Works for the majority; only start tricking around with other mouthpieces if there is a problem.

I first introduced the bit to my youngster using a straight bar rubber loose ring and progressed onto a full cheek happy mouth snaffle with a lozenge when riding to help with steering. Mine seems to quite like this one as he wasn't keen on the cold metal of a normal full cheek bit.

I think a large loose ring snaffle. However, I also think a loose ring fulmer is a sensible idea depending on how you teach and ask for bend.

See im not too keen on putting metal in his mouth but think the rubber straight bar bit is too thick? He has been ridden a handful of times in just headcollar and is good with that.

i normally got for a medium thickness loose ring lozenge type......ive actually discovered Goof is much happier in the nathe french link so if you want to go plastic without the bulk this could be an option for you, i find straight bars are just too woolly and blunt, hard to indicate flexion with no turning etc.
