Listing some bits on Ebay but I'm not sure what bit this is, I'm guessing it's off a Double bridle but I could be wrong. The correct name would be much appreciated please :D

Thanks :)

It's a weymouth of some variety - the curb bit from a double bridle. The snaffle type part of the double is the bridoon (or bradoon).

You could be right there!! Someone will no doubt enlighten us about the Brigadoon!!!! You have made me doubt myself!

Thanks :)

Rosehip - This one isn't green metal but I have a load of bits to list, haven't been through them all properly yet but there are quite a few 'Green' ones in different varieties. Will keep posting on this thread when I need to know what they are so if you keep an eye on it I can give you a link to the bit if there's one you're after.

Cheers 3Beasties!!! :) xx

as already posted its a weymouth...

just as an aside, I wouldnt personally use "old green bits"- they tend to be nickel alloys so tend to snap(!)- more concerning if its a stirrup iron i guess because it wont be under much pressure in the mouth
or the horse has an allergic reaction to them

Brigadoon is a mythical village in Scotland that appears through the Scotch mist....you knew that really, somewhere in your mind it's lurking :) ;)

First one's a sliding-cheek Weymouth with a port and the second one's an Army Universal reversible elbow bit. One side used to have ridges on the face and the other smooth - that's why it was reversible, for 'severity options'. Nowadays, both sides are smooth - recent discussion with a cavalry man...
