I have a 12 yr old 7/8ths TB mare. I bought her as a 5yr old with 'bucking issues'. It took a while but we are now competing medium dressage and BE100 however she has never salivated when being ridden. She doesn't enjoy dressage but I have known her salivate twice in the 7 yrs I've had her - both times on the lunge. I currently ride in a loose ring snaffle with lozenge and a flash noseband as she seems happiest in this - have tried numerous over the years. She does have a small mouth - Although she has a very sensitive mouth she is always happier in a thinner bit. She does try and lean in a straight bar and there is absolutely no point in trying anything stronger (eg for hunting) as she just takes a hold and bolts, though I can happily XC her in a cavesson noseband and the loose ring snaffle. Just curious to see if there is something out there that could help a little to soften her more in the dressage - some may say it's my hands but have worked with horses for the last 30 yrs and never had this problem before....

I would try her in a Sprenger KK and keep the loose ring and lozenge. They are around £80 each brand new but really good.

You can always pick up a good second hand one - eBay or British Dressage Classifieds.

Hahaha!!! I bought a 5 yr old TB with ' bucking ' issues about 4 months ago. Great to hear how well yours has progressed.

I have just got a Neue Schule lozenge bit from the bit bank. (You pay the full price and have it on trial for 4 weeks and can send it back within that time and get money back) I was recommended to try a happy mouth, or sweet iron or NS as they encourage them to mouthe more than usual bits.
He is going very well in the NS and the lady on the helpline is very informative.

My TB doesn't easily salivate when ridden but I've found that Neue Schule bits helped to solve this problem. Waterford help as well,he likes Waterfords & I use bits with a Waterford mouthpiece when I need extra brakes but sounds like you wouldn't require a Waterford.

KY Rotary bits! I swear by them. They have numerous rollers with no nutcracker effect at all so they horse can play with the bit quite happily. All my horses who I have used them on have mouthed up really nicely.
