Hello everyone! I hope someone can help me.
I have a lovely TB mare but she is giving me grey hair.... she is 6 and been off the track for 2 years.
The problem I am having is I cannot find a snaffle for her.
She has a big scar on her tongue, I suspect she pinched it in a bit (or tried to bite it off - she is silly enough!)
Now I ride her everyday on a double bridle - cottage craft weymouth and loose ring bridoon and she is happy as larry on this. Collects nicely, works into the contact, steerable, stoppable and just a little gemstone!
My problem is I want to do dressage on her and a double is not allowed in novice dressage:( I have tried her in various snaffles and the results are depressing to say the least.
each bit is the same.... head up, running into the bit and grumpy.
I have tried: straight single joints - eggbutt (fat & thin mouth piece), D ring (fat & thin mouth piece), loose ring (medium mouth piece)
french link - eggbutt, full check. ellipitical link - fillet boucher & loose ring
all in stainless steel.
sprenger duo (best of the bad bunch, not as awful as all the others but not exactly stoppable) and a jointed rubber d. does anybody have a suggestion to get me through novice dressage???:confused:

If I was you given the problems your having I would ring an advice line for bits, Neue Scheule or someone like that. Good luck!

Have you tried anything in Happy Mouth? You can get all manner of snaffles in them. My boy quite sensitive and forward going likes his double jointed HM with peanut or roller centres.

Thank you so much everyone...
going to try all suggestions... will report back
:o
STORMYGALE: is the myler low port allowed in dressage? sounds like it might be my solution if it is
