Which type of link do you prefer with bits and why? My sec d is currently in a french link but thinking to change as he doesnt always seem to like it x
I'm a bitless convert but if I had to go bitted again, I've always belived that the lozenge bits are as kind as they come - obviously to varying degrees dependent on size, metal etc
It really depends on the horse- one horse's favourite is another horse's nightmare. So Al's big TB loves his happy mouth lozenge snaffle thing. Another she rides would hate that, and ideally wants a ported straight bar snaffle as she has a big tongue and a small mouth. Horses for courses!
I've never been a fan of double linked bits - only because all of mine have gone well in a single joint. The only one I did try got his tongue over it within 45mins and then took two years to stop him.
I do like the myler comfort snaffle with barrel because there is no actual joint knuckle as in a french link
I like the Myler snaffle, but not one of my horses has actually liked it. I am a firm french link fan, or for my western horse a little link snaffle like this
EDITING quickly - Yes I know that it is a curb, but it is often called a snaffle over here, so I tend to call it a snaffle....
