Hello, need some advice about a bit for my bosses horse, hes fairly new 15'3 5yr irish horse m/w. really sweet however went xc schooling yesterday and he has started tucking his head in leaning on the bit and is on his forehand and therefore hard to stop/strong, he is currently ridden in a cheltenham gag and i aim to compete him in a few weeks time now this may seem silly but he schools well in a snaffle but down ward transitions are an issue as again he just leans. Any suggestions for a legal dressage bit and something stronger to jump in i could try.
Thank you

As a 5yr old schooling and continuing the hard work of education will help him get the balance, its hard work for him to carry himself !

However a good bit to try is the Danger Bit (search for it on google or in the bit bank) it is an N/S loose ring lozenge snaffle which is kind but when the horse resists/leans/tries to evade it locks to create an angle they can't get hold of - its also dressage legal

I'm presuming you have had all the other things checked which can cause this problem Back/Teeth/Saddle - I'm sure you have but if not get them checked to rule anything else out ;)

thanks hes not long come over from ireland, and owner likes to hunt but has decided she wants me to event him.
