what bits do use and why :-)

Saddle company Cob GP saddle for everything.
8 year old Welsh D.
Pelham for showing and known out of control circumstances!
Baucher snaffle for dressage/ cross country/ lunging
Fulmer snaffle for hacking

No controlling nosebands, plain cavesson at all times
Depends on the behaviour on the day :)

really interesting post!
mine wears (15.3hh, 8yo connie x):
fairfax gp saddle (because it fits us both, was in budget and looks v smart!)
handmade bridle - plain cavesson, though without the noseband at home as she has a tendancy to rub her nose on rough things - ruins the noseband!!
bit is a cotswold sport tongue saver baucher as she has a large tongue and so needs the space to be comfortable and the cheek being more fixed than a loose ring suits her better - suits me better too as it means we have steering!! Wish they would bring out a tongue saver eggbutt as that would be perfect as we don't really need even the smallest bit of poll pressure as she can sometimes lean.

10yo IDx 16.1hh gelding has a GFS saddle and he has a loosering for jumping and flat but if its cross country he has a dutch gag on the 2nd hole up :)

I use a Neue Schule "Team Up" 12mm mouthpiece version on 5yr WBxCOBXID type beast who got backed in April this year. Saddle is Wide fit Kieffer GP and bridle is HUGE plain flat cavesson to look proportionate to his head  :p :D

I got to the decision about the NS Team Up after he chewed his way through the Happymouth mullen mouth I started him in (it was only ever going to be a starter bit but I expected it to last longer  ) and then changed out of the german silver loose ring lozenge because he was very busy in his mouth all the time (I know babies are meant to play but it was quite ridiculous  ) and I'd heard mixed reviews about german silver since purchsing the bit :o

I decided because he has such a fleshy mouth he might have found the thickness of the mouthpiece uncomfortable (I'd chosen a thick one because they are 'kinder' ) so got looking into NS range (for the Salox) and chose the Team Up because I thought he'd gone passed the Starter Bit stage and because it had a thin mouthpiece option, which facilitates his mighty tongue :p :D

He is going like a dream in it and we won our first ever dressage competition on Saturday!! :D
