What 'bits' do you use and WHY?

Mine is in a NS loose ring lozenge snaffle thing. She goes pretty well in it, but think she could do with something just a touch sharper as she does lean a little. She's never really been in anything much stronger in the 12 years I've had her.

In a french link fulmer.

He likes the french link and I wanted something up from a normal eggbut with a bit of turning power ;)

dutch gag for everything. snaffle ring for schooling or pootling round the roads, first ring for jumping or countryside hacking. its what he came with, altho i hate it i learnt my lesson. i downgraded his bit as he was so good, and ultimately he tanked off with me. dutch gag back in, and its taken me 6 months to get back in control again and undo those few moments where he had control. but despite being an average rider, i did it! and now the dutch gag is the only thing he has, and i've learnt to quite like it.

Ru goes nicely in a baucher french link, with a thinish mouth piece, and we hack, school, and can SJ in this. However, Ru does get very strong jumping both arena and XC (which is enough to shake the fragile confidence) so she is in a Sweet Iron tom thumb scrob with copper rollers. She does seem to like this, and I have the control that is missing from the normal snaffle. With both I use a caveson and flash.

waterford dutch gag on snaffle ring or waterford snaffle for schooling and jumping
then waterford dutch gag on first ring for hacking if she's a bit fresh
she used to be in a loose ring french link and loose ring fulmer, but she's so much better in a waterford
