What boots do you hunt over the cold months in?

LOL, I had my sergio grasso boots on, which I can only get a pair of tights in, on the day it snowed, nearly fell over in pain when I got off!!
A friend has Ariat Bromonts and claimed her feet were ok!

I have my Sarm Hippiques at the moment although they are not warm for hunting. But after testing OH's hunting boots on I am most certainly working on a pair of Davies :)

Mark Todd Cook boots are fab- really do look like leather if you give them a good spray with a car polish like "back to black" several people at our hunt have bought them so OH and i are not the only ones! They do come up small in the foot but have 2 calf widths and are about £55 so good value for money. If i win the lottery then i would buy Ariats

I'm not sure the Bromont H2O's would fit me anyway. :-(((

I can fit in my Grasmeres, but I am pretty sure the Bromonts aren't as generous...even in the wide/full leg width.

Off to google....

A bigger hip flask? keeps you warm and circulation increases!!! on a more sensible note get your leather boots rubber soled at cobblers and have good thick rubber treads in stirrups, that does help

I wear Tuffa Norfolks for hunting - they don't appear to be particularly padded but I have very rarely had cold feet in them - and believe me, having low blood pressure - I really feel the cold!

They are quite generous in the foot size so I can comfortably get a pair of thick socks in them :)

My boots are slightly too big, so I wear thermal socks, with a pair or two of normal socks. I also try and keep my body very warm by wearing a HW wool jacket, thermal T shirt and stock shirt. I also put dry gloves in my pocket

I have a pair of equitector's which are really warm, and have a steel toe cap - I hunted all last season in cotton socks even when it was snowing. The season before I had mountain horse long riders which were great but the zip wasn't so good, but I wore merino wool socks in them.

OH hunts in ariat devon pro boots and ariat close contact chaps, but wear a pair of mountain hiking socks with them.

Get or make some foil insoles!

To make them, take the insole out of your boot, trace round it onto card. Cut out the card and cover it with tin foil, shiny side out. Put in the bottom of the boot.

This will reflect the heat back inside the boot, just like those things you put down the back of the radiator at home!

Loving the blue peter moment - off to try that one!!! ;)
