Im bringing home my new horse next week and want a good pair of travel boots for him.

Not sure what brand to go for. Are some brands bigger fittings? He is 15.2. Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers!

It's all a matter of preference! I like the Premier Equine ones that have the extra knee protection. Easy to put on and offer more protection than most of the others I've seen.

They are mostly the same - choose your price bracket. Personally I prefer type that are shaped and cover the hock / knee. But I know others who swear by the more leg wrap style that more closely mirrors the pad and bandage approach. Our current ones are GFS and Amigo. I've had woof wear in the past - and probably others. Whatever suited my budget at the time.

Size wise - if the 15.2 is fine legged a cob size would probably work. If they are fuller in the leg you might need a full - but be careful that doesn't come up too high if you opt for the shaped versions.

I use the Shires shaped ones for mine and they're a reasonable price. Cob size fits my 15.2 overgrown pony and is a good length to protect knees and hocks. I also like the Amigo and Premier Equine ones but haven't tried them. Good luck with your new boy :)

Thank you. I definitely will be buying the over hock and knee highs rather than the bandage style. He is a fine horse so cob size will be grand too. Cheers

I picked up lemieux ones in a sale - and have been impressed. Lots of protection, stay in place and easy to clean. as others have said, most seem to do a good job. I personally prefer the ones that have a bit more structure - as I have had the softer ones slip down in use.

I love my Bucas travel boots, they have lasted really well, are very protective and my super sensitive mare doesn’t walk like her legs are in smartie tubes!!

I ended up choosing between Weatherbeeta and Shires and went for the Shires, now all i need is a rug.........
