What breed can you not imagine owning?

I
I don't like tiny designer dogs for fear of squasing them and because they don't seem like proper dogs - although they might be if they grew up in a normal environment instead of a handbag

Among her Border Collies and Keeshonds, the lady whose agility class we take has a Pomeranian who's nationally ranked at agility. They are smart dogs, as are Papillons, but most will never reach their full potential because of the types of owners they (generally) appeal to.

Hmm, I don't think I'd ever have one of the toy breeds, not keen on them. I'd also probably avoid collies etc - as someone said early, would be worried they'd be cleverer than me! Plus I'd worry they wouldn't get enough exercise. Not a massive fan of terriers although did meet a yorkie x westie yesterday who was totally fab! And echo those above who aren't keen on long hair or slobber - my rottie slobbers occasionally but only if there is food around that just smells TOO good!
I never realised I was so fussy actually!!

i really can not say i would never own anything, coz as soon as i say ild never have 1 of those,,,, i end up having one ...

wolfhounds mmm i could never be without 1

Anything small. I don't care for small dogs particularly white fluffy types. I also couldn't imagine owning any dog with a wiry coat - I like smooth coats.

I also always buy black dogs....so why did I end up buying a white fluffy puppy a few months ago? Because she has now grown into an enormous white fluffy giant Akbash dog and she is perfect for the job of guarding our livestock.

Hmm you know what - I don't think there is a 'breed' or 'type' that I wouldn't go for as for me it's all about personality - in that respect I couldn't be doing with the hyper/yappy types...

things that slobber, yap constantly or are small enough to stand on

i personally wouldnt have a whippet/grey hound, pug, bull dog, english bull terrier or a glorified hand bag accessory

may i ask why you wouldnt have a greyhound?

im not going to start a fight or anything i just want to know

at first i never wanted anything like that as i thought whippets/greys and lurchers legs would snap lol and i used to think they were too skinny

my opinion changed as i got older though, and then when looking for dogs we chose lurchers/greys.

QR,
I would actively avoid anything with a long coats, long hairy ears or beards.
Basically any dog that only looks good when it comes out of a poodle parlour is a no no around here.

I don't fancy having any type of bull terrier type either. They just aren't me.

I can never say never though.

Sorry Maral - I do think they are beautiful (when I was young I always had a hankering for an Afghan Hound) but given my lifestyle I just wouldn't have time to do their coats justice. When I got my first job I nearly took one of my mum's cockers as my first dog as she was so faithful to me but as I was working on farms most of the time she would of been knee deep in cow muck most of the time - my mum kept all the dogs including all the oldies in pristine show condition all the time - I think she would of been horrified! I really loved that dog and I think I broke her heart when I got Bracken my first Vizsla but they are so much easier to keep looking tidy (ie require no effort at all

OK who said they wouldnt have a chinese crested !!!! !!!! you clearly havent met my puddle jumping stable yard friendly little diva queen!! ha just kidding !

lab's i dont like. or staffs or bull terrier things.

or anything that slobbers, is big/heavy, barks all the time for no reason, smells, hairy etc

quite happy with my versatile little chap, he happily minces around the farm and goes for run - whilst in his bling of course. haha.

Any kind of terrier or any yappy dogs - can't stand them. Also don't do bulldogs, boxers, etc, I just don't find them appealing, and don't like wire haired dogs. I prefer more unusual dogs, I wouldn't have something average like a labrador.

I would love a whippet or a small greyhound - they are delightful.

[/ QUOTE ] So right, they are really sweet dogs in general.

I wouldn't have any sort of bull breed especially a Staff or EBT.

I love the pointing breeds, having had a GSP into old age, had Vizslak for the last 20 years and my daughter has a Weimaraner. I have also had Dobes for the last 25 yrs, love 'em but not keen on Rotts, nothing to do with the bad press, just prefer the elegance of the Dobe - oh yes and I have a little scraggy, long coated cross breed who is as far removed from Dobes and Pointer types as you could imagine!!!

QR: Anything with a long coat (practical reasons), anything small and fluffy (although would be ok with a small, non-fluffy dog), any of the bull breeds (just don't care for their look), and anything too huge like a great dane (again for practical reasons).

I love my hounds - I have two beagles (one mine and one foster) and a beagle mix (we think pointer or lab is the rest of the mix).

Toy dogs..iv always found them to be annoying snappy little things plus my lab hates small dogs with a passion and they always seem to be the ones we meet when were walking and of course their off the lead..grr if im told dont worry shes just been friendly by 1 more person il actually let jess eat the little fecker! My dog isnt friendly stop assuming she is and control ur dog!!sorry bout the rant..
