This is rather embarrassing, but is my horse a TBxID, or an ISH? Can someone tell me what the difference is? She is out of TB stallion, ID mare, has a green passport and it states "unverified parentage"...

Please forgive my ignorance - I am foreign...

She is an IDxTB. Irish sports horses were so named as a marketing tool for horses of mixed breeding, often including warmblood. Some people brag that they have an irish sports horse but im afraid to say some of them are little more than heinz 57s with a fancy name! They have a specific passport.

The unverified parentage bit is usually because the horse hasnt been dna tested, thats all. Some horses registered with SHBGB are called sports horses but i would say IDxTB unless it specifically says sports horse next to the sires or dams name

Mines a ID x TB x Shire and I too have the SHGB passport. Mines parentage was verified until I asked them to update ownership and then it was returned unverified. They wanted the mares covering certificate to re verify it. I do have it but havent got round to it, (6 yrs later

People say my horse is a ISH but I say he isnt, hes SHGB. Im not sure what the difference is.

I dont think it really matters unless its a mare who in the future would be used for breeding. As in good verified breeding means more valuble/saleable foal????

It is possible that we might want to breed from her, as she has a good competitive record and the most amazing temperament, but ultimately I can't imagine it would make a huge difference... She is by Prince of Darkness (the only one of his offspring with an easy temperament?) and out of a mare by Colman.

Thanks for replying to this thread, I am happy to know what breed my big girl is!

Slightly twisting this as i know nothing but i have an ISH with thoroughbred badly tippexed out in his passport!! His dad is eurobus, who i've heard of and his mum is Clover lady. Not heard of her at all and drawing a blank when googling! Does anyone know what breed she is please? Last owner tried to convince me she's by the famous clover hill but i think he was just trying to bump up his price!!!
