I was wondering what sort of breed of dog do you own and why
I have two whippets which i race/lure course... i didnt want a big dog when i first got my first'peggy' who is almost 7 unreg, then i got into courseing and got 'Bow'kc
They are fanastic dogs and so loving but boy they love to chase anything what moves and of course selective hearing at times ,and they are such a versertile dogs they can work/race/course/lamp/show/aligilty/pet

I have 2 rescued Great Danes and a rescued Staffie x, I would never have puppies as there are too many unwanted dogs out there anyway. They are all very loving and any problems they had have gone completely.

Longhaired miniature dachshund... I like the way they look, lovely temperament and haven't got space for a big dog. I don't generally like small dogs but somehow these are like big dogs in a little dog's coat.

We've got a German Shorthaired Pointer and a Border Terrier (well, he's almost a BT!) I've got them just cos I like them!

They are just pets, but very entertaining ones!

I love whippets too by the way!

I have the cutest softest English Springer Spaniel, i have him because he made a career decision to be my yard dog and buddy rather than being a gun dog for my dad. My dad therefore has 4 yellow labs of varying yellow colours from pale to fox red to take out picking up.

I wanted the perfect companion dog; I wanted a dog that was suited to city life--portable enough to go on the subway/in taxis, doesn't take up too much room, renowned for having a confident, outgoing demeanour; great with other kids, dogs, strangers etc.; enjoys long walks, games, jogging etc.; is a big dog in a small package and rarely barks.

And I got exactly what I was looking for in the Boston Terrier, otherwise known as the American Gentleman

JRT, Orginally i wanted Collie but my house is too small for medium collies so i wanted next crazy thing and found Boris the JRT... he thinks he's a huge dog! Lovable and funny! but as lone lady he's quite protective.

Have 2 Australian Cattle Dogs - I usually go for herding types as I like them to come out riding with me and still be there at the end of the ride! I have had rescue scruffy muts and collie crosses but these two are re homed Aussie Blokes from breed rescue.

I have found them to be a very tough, intelligent breed and most definitely not for a novice, but they are rewarding, entertaining and great company. They will guard property so there is a bonus and look fairly intimidating when walking alone! Mine are both blue and disappear at twilight so you need flashy collars! But they are never far from me even in the dark, when I am doing the horses in the middle of nowhere late at night they make me feel very safe!

Having dingo in the back catalogue they have some very similar attitudes and mannerisms to Husky’s. They do not find people interesting at all and can snub the attempts of humans to attract their attention! They don’t respond to local dogs barking but certainly let me know if anyone is about. They like to be with me but are not really cuddlers, they are far better than any car alarm! They have bottomless stamina and a strong instinct that you have to watch when riding!!! But unlike a Husky they do do as they are told but they will question if they think you are weak enough to let them get away with it!

Have found there are VERY few dog toys tough enough to last a sustained attack by a cattle dog, let alone two! Their motto – “over it or through it but never round it!” They are very competitive and don’t do gentle play! They are a bit like a collie on steroids, but not as manic.

Both of mine came with problems and were originally in unsuitable homes, these dogs need stimulus and a lot of exercise, they are not a lap or house dog and really need a rural home or at least a hobby like flyball.

Heres one that the late Steve Irvine missed!

(KC'S daughter...)my love is my golden retriever...but i also have a springer. i don't think you can beat the goldie! my mum (KC) has a sprocker, and a springer spaniel. we 'share' a large munsterlander ! but i really want a rottweiler WITH a tail!!! does anyone have a rotty...pics would be great! so between 2 of us there is 5 dogs!lol.

Two siberian huskies and an alaskan malamute

They enable me to take part in my "sport" and they are the most unique dogs i have ever met in appearance and personality, they are not a dog that fits into your lift you fit into theirs and work your life around them

We have an old, sweet and gentle Whippet and when we decided to get another dog we chose something completely different - a Boston Terrier - partly because of the beautiful Stella on this forum and we got to know the breed as one lived behind us.

We do not own a dog, she owns us

Bumble Dog is a bossy, insecure, loving and obsessive JRT. We keep her for her mousing abilities, she so far has a tally of 4

, her ability to run up vets bills and the fact that we love her so much, and she loves us

She's 6 now. Before getting her, I always wanted a rottie. At the time I was living in a flat in Paris so wasn't possible to get such a big dog. My Mum had a standard schnauzer at home when she was little and so suggested it to me as being a medium sized dog (am not a big fan of small dogs)
So got Syrcée and have never regretted it. Would get another schnauzer any day.
She's very protective of her home and wary of people she doesn't know. Loves people she does know and loves cuddles.
Great around horses, fine with other dogs.
For me the sweetest dog I could ask for.

are rhodesian ridgebacks scent or sighthounds or are they both

They are a combo of the two - if it runs ... chase it, if it smells,,,,, follow it

(I have one Ridgeback, in answer to your original question

)

A furry monster also more commonly known as a mini schnauzer who will be 7 in May, a black lab who is 8 this year and a yellow lab who is 9 months (and the worlds biggest pain in the arse!)
