As title really, his passport gives his parents as Unknown :(

I'd love to hear any opinions on what breeds he could possibly be made up of!! He has a huge head with lovely big ears and a big Roman nose :)

Thanks Fairynuff, he is a real gentleman.
We have just begun lessons together since moving to a new yard so he is learning how to carry himself & become more balanced. Up til now he has been a happy hacker but I hope to do a walk\trot test in the Spring and maybe even some jumping - depends how he gets on with it. At the moment, we're giving everything a try - our options are all open as it's all new :)

Thanks scarymare, i thought maybe he had ID becuase of the nose :)

He is a very kind soul and tries his heart out for me :) However, despite being a big lad he can be nervous of the most odd things - the "SLOW" signs on roads are the latest demon LOL!!

Think there's some ID, but a little too much feather for an ID. Because of the feather I wonder if there could be a bit of Fell in there??

He really reminds me of mine in parts (mine ID x TB) he just looks so genuine. Mine is a bit of a wuss too but always goes if I am positive and treats me far better than my riding deserves.

I had a mare who was 1/2 ID 1/4 Tb and 1/4 Clydesdale (unforunately took the worst of all three breeds! ID head and backside, Clydesdale feet and a TB brain! My she was ummm exciting to ride! Lol!). Looking at your boy I'd agree with ID, TB and something heavy and hairy! He looks gorgeous though and has a very kind eye.

just an idea what my mare looked like!

He looks very much like a horse I knew who was Shire x ID with a dash of TB. He was bred to hunt and just one of the most amazing horses I've had the pleasure of working with. Very talented driving horse.

First picture screamed part Shire to me (head and particularly hind limbs).
Second picture (lovely) said more ID.
I always think the Shire blood comes out in the way they put their feet down (if not immediately obvious in the body.

Bet he jumps extremely well :).

Beautiful boy my guess is shire X tb he's very similar to my friends mare who was a real dressage talent! Hope you have lots of fun with him!

RebelRebel, how do you mean about the way the feet are put down? He has a very high action and, apparently, quite flat feet. Is that consistent with Shire do you know?

Not sure about jumping - thats next on our list to try :D

I thought shire cross Welsh D maybe ? but I'm not much good at these things

Could be ID x Welsh though - how tall ???

Hi Ladylina83, he is approx 16.3 using a tape - up til now we haven't been able to measure him with a stick as he freaks at the sight of it :(

Thanks emmaln :) We both love our lessons and he really seems to enjoy showing off!! We hope to do a local WT test this spring and if that goes well I'd love to take the dressage a bit further. That's if i can ever get to grips with canter in the school - he's such a big horse that the corners arrive far far too quickly LOL :D

I think ID with a dollop of TB - but does anybody else think he might have a tad of Cleveland Bay.

Whatever he is he's very beautiful and I think he should come and live with me, as the SLOW sign outside our house wore away in the snow and ice - to my silly mare's huge relief!!

First photo screams Shire X at me as well... though maybe not a straight Shire x TB. I agree with people about the second pic being more ID so I'd go for Shire/ID/TB in some mixture (though I don't know much about this sort of thing).
