Hi, I don't often post on this bit of the forum, but I was wondering if you guys would be kind enough to let me know what breed cross you think my dog is? We got him from the shelter so he doesn't have a full history. The vet's who did his passport has marked Belgian Shepherd cross, but we were wondering what he might be crossed with.

Here's one of him at eight months when we got him:

And him as an adult:

Full length (we don't put is collar on like this - he was having fun in the snow!):

Long coated Gsd x border collie. I think his shnout:p would be much more elongated/pronounced if he where a rough x.
His head is the image of my mams long coated Gsd, I shall find a picci.

He looks very like a dog I know who is GSDx rough collie.
Lovely looking boy!

Thanks! Will try to find some pics of the crosses suggested to compare

he's lovely! I reckon GSDxrough collie

I think so too :D

He used to be a lot finer in his snout when he was younger so looked very like a Tervuren, but as he's got older his face had changed quite a lot. I would love to see a pic!

GSD/Collie or GSD/Golden Retriever.

Or a mix of all three, he looks very GSD like in the first pic, very collie like in the second pic and very Goldie like in the last!

TBH it would be hard to prove anything just on looks alone.

That is a very handsome dog, very handsome indeed. He could be a Labrador, crossed with a Lavatory-door, for all that I would care.

The colour and chest depth would suggest Rough Collie influence, but beyond that I couldn't say. Were he mine, I wouldn't care, either. ;)

A lovely eye, and a proper woofer! Enjoy him, and I'm sure that you will. ;)

Alec.

your dogs gorgeous, I love big fluffy dogs :)

this is my first time trying to post a pic, lord knows if this will work, piccy of my old girl, German Shepherd x Rough Collie

Can't for the life of me find one of her stood up, yet I know she did lol

Fur and Muzzle to me look Belgian Shepherd x either Rough Collie or Hovawart(the Blond hovie) he's stunning! You can actually goggle dog dna testing to find out what your dogs breeding really is..not sure how accurate, but it was under £50-nearer £25 if I remember...it was aimed at mongrel/crosses and the reviews were not bad ones...worth a look if you are uber curious!

Nothing like a BSD in either overall shape or head shape.
I would vote for GSD cross or even a pure but poorly bred GSD. ( play with colour changes on the PC and I bet making him black and tan would surprise you.)

The DNA testing for breeds behind a dog is a scam.

Actually he looks just like a Golden Retriever from behind, plus the colour has made me wonder.

In my mind he looks like a leonberger x belgian shepherd.

I think he would be bigger though? He's about 30 kg (he should be about 27 but has been sick and not able to do much exercise).

Yes, just curious. As he was abandoned twice before we got him at eight months, we can't trace his original owner. Would be nice to know because we get stopped all the time out walking him!

First thing I thought because of the face was collie :) he's very gorgeous!

I also thought Collie x GSD :) He's gorgeous!

Thanks :)

She's gorgeous! I do live a fluffy. She looks very similar in her face to Thaos, although her hair is quite a bit longer.

Hmm, not sure if I'm curious enough to pay out hard cash - think of all the treats I could buy him with that ;)

First impression was German Shepard cross.

Lovely boy!

Thanks, lots of GSD suggestions coming up.

Bit of a technophobe, but will try to give a go one rainy day!

Been having lots of fun this weekend looking for pictures of suggested crosses - someone came up to us at the weekend and said he looked just like his Pyrenees shepherd, so another idea for the pot!
