We've got a little pup in for rehoming. She is around 10 weeks old. She carries her ears like a whippet/greyhound, has a slightly bull breed look about her face and is rather sweet! I was told what she was a mix of prior to her coming to us, but having seen her in the flesh I am rather doubtful as to what I have been told is correct. There are photo's of her below with my springer, who is a couple of days short of being 15 weeks old for size comparison.

So, what do you reckon, what is she a mix of?

A bit blurry, but gives you an idea as to the shape of her face:

She looks almost pure staffy to me, Im sure there must be a bit of something else because she is a bit bigger than I would expect for a staff of that age but I wouldnt like to say what. Are you absolutely sure about her age?

Pretty sure about her age. I was told ten weeks, and I don't think she is any older. She hasn't started losing her teeth yet. I was told she was a Rottie x Mastiff !!!!!! When she arrived I took one look at her sleek coat, brindle colouring (although I am aware you can get brindle mastiffs), little square head, and though Staffie! In my opinion she hasn't got one drop of Rottie or Mastiff in her and I must confess to being a bit miffed as I only took her on the basis she was a Rottie x as I know someone wanting one and thought we could rehome her quickly. She isn't as broad as my old Staff was a pup, and her face is slightly slimmer so I assume there is something a bit finer in there too. I saw a litter sister of hers, and she was smaller and had a longer, slimmer face.

When you say you "have her in for rehoming" do we assume she has already had one home (apart from her breeder), or did you get her straight from the breeder. Either way Im a bit confused!

She was brought to me by a lady who runs a rescue. She doesn't usually take pups, knew I was on the look out for a large dog for someone I know and asked if I could take the pup. Yes, I have 'mug' tattood on my forehead! Although, in the lady's defence, she was probably desperate to find somewhere for the pup as she is full to bursting, and probably hoped that I would fall in love with the pup and keep her!

ETA: I was told that the breeder thought he could make a quick buck letting his dog have pups, she had 10 and he couldn't get rid of them. He was living in a one bedroomed flat and rang the rescue in desperation.

Staffie x whippet?

That is my thinking. Her ears go so far back as to touch behind her head, a very Whippity thing! She's a very sweet little thing but not what we thought we were getting. I am also concerned that she is quite aggressive with our dogs occasionally. I have had lots of dogs myself, and had loads of rescues in, and have never seen this level of aggression in such a small pup. I am hoping it is just fear of a new situation and new dogs and a one off. We will keep her for a few weeks regardless, get her socialised with lots of different people and different dogs and re-assess her then. She will find a lovely home, I am rather picky with my rescues :)

She is probably a staffy crossed with some sort of lurcher. Theres lots of bull lurchers kicking about, and they seem to be the sorts that end up with idiots who breed pups for pocket money!

I've just been looking at my dog, and there is something very whippety about the set of the ears. Glad shes ended up in a good home, even if it wasnt the one she was originally intended for :)

I was thinking staffie/whippet possibly. Thank goodness the total idiot contacted a rescue who was able to take them. Sounds like she has landed on her paws with you.

Poor girl has been getting more and more whiney during the evening, and has just done her second liquid poo in a couple of hours. OH thinks it might be the food, but it is Wainwrights hypoallergenic wheat free stuff, so can't imagine that would make her ill :( She is now snuggled up round my neck fast asleep, bless her. She has had such a horrible few days :(
