It's been 2 years since Blobby's death and before that I had ridden him for a long while. It occurred to me today that I have no idea what breed he was. Any help?

This is my favourite photo :) Sadly I'm not in it, but it's of my three favourite boys! Ned, Archie and Blobby <3

He was, wasn't he?
Beautiful, odd colouring and the most gentle giant you could ever imagine :) He never did anything mean, but he was clever! He figured out how to unlatch his door and get into feed room!
He was so good to ride too, other horses could be thundering past him and he'd never get strong and in the years I rode him, we only had one accident, which wasn't even his fault :P Another horse threw it's rider and ran into him and he stepped back into a ditch! I stayed on and he wasn't hurt. I really miss him :( But he's in a better place now.

EDIT: I did wonder about that, someone did mention he was a Percheron X Appy, but not 100% on that, as it wasn't his owner who said that and they're not always to be believed :P

There MUST be some Appy in there :) That would also fit with him being a clever chap, as they do all seem to be. So I would agree some draught horse breed and an Appy

I had an appy x take me backwards down a ditch once. His excuse was a van which had politely slowed right down in front of us in the road, which might have been understandable had he not been well used to traffic. He was a total sod... I think this lad seemed to be a much nicer sort. Probably the Clydie influence :p (wildly assuming he has Clyde blood...)

He has a sense of humour then... very like the appy. This best shows his spots, sorry about driving photo but haven't got many uploaded on photobucket yet... your boy sounds like a real character.

I have to say, M has a very unique character and is well known for it! M is obviously lighter coloured and has a light mane & tail but the legs match! If I had one of his face, it would show that blaze and dark "goggles".

He is a bigger, older, coarser version of this : http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150320397738667&l=b5e8a66cd4

Mine is almost certainly Welsh section D x British spotted pony. And while mine is currently blacker, he will spot out to be the same colour ish as the pics. I would imagine that yours is a spotty stallion put to a heavy cob mare. Appies are reknowned for their good natures, mine is an utter gem!

Aww bless you both, thanks. I will tell him when I see him tomorrow he has more fans... :D

I am rather partial to the more unusual of the equine kind - spots being a particular favourite... I would have loved Blobby, just my type :)

He used to get mistaken for a knabstrupper, which is possible but he is registered PB Appaloosa.

I'm sure he would have loved you too! He was like a dog, in the sense he wanted to be friends with everyone :P More so if they have food!

I also have a soft spot for the more unusual coloured horses ^^ The weirder the better!

The way you describe his character sounds like my appy x ID, very clever, can open gates, do all sorts, loves being the centre of attention, never ever mean. Follows me round like a puppy and just wants to please. He's a thinker and rarely worries about anything.
