Yup another one of these threads :)
We were told by the woman we got him from that he is GSD x Lab, which he blatantly isn't. We came to the conclusion that he is probably Border Collie X lab, but now we're not so sure. He has a fair bit of feathering on his front legs and a bushy tail and has some collie traits so we thought collie x, but he's just not filling out like I'd expect a lab x too. The vet said he's probably going to fill a tiny bit but not get any taller, and after seeing some male labs out walking, we're just not convinced that this is what he is. He is energetic and clever but is not food orientated like a lot of labs I've come across. He's mostly black but with dark brown bits that only show in bright lights. He also has a white patch on his chest.

This is him as a pup, at about 3 months:

This is him today (He was busy trashing his bed in the first pic, and smelling his breaky in the second)

And one in the snow last year because he's gorgeous :)

Night? I meant nigh.

TBH you can't discount GSD somewhere in there, if I cover the head in the body shots he does not look unlike my black LH GSD.

That's the thing with x-breeds and genetics etc, they can take different amounts of traits from each parent, and the dogs behind them. I know two GSD crosses that look utterly purebred but are not.

I thought F/C because he is more of that shape rather than lab - head and body. But if there was collie influence in the breeding then it could be that too.

He could be GSD X Lab - as others have said alsorts come out in the mix with xbreds, I had 4 litter brothers who were Lab x rottie and the smallest one looked very like yours only with the rottie colours, the biggest brother looked like a newfoundland and the other 2 looked like pure golden retrievers - so you can never really tell for certain!! He's lovely though!!!:D
