I am going to buy Oscar his first bridle but dont know what sort to buy..... I love stubbon and Sabre but they are so ££!!

Have also got confused over crank nosebands, are they good or not and headpieces (should the nose band slit through and go over the headiece to prevent poll pressure?

Its prob not as complicated as i make out but just want some advice...

What di you use? Any recomendations?

Also was thinking of getting a myler bit dont know if this makes a difference...........

I was thinking brown tack? Or do you think black?........

Thanks

He's a lovely boy!

I think havannah brown would look good (what colour's your saddle tho?) and in terms of what bridle - if it's his first one - keep it simple!

Brown, I think. I bought my pony an Elevator Bridle. Pricey (especially as we do nothing but hack out) but imo very worth it. She is very comfortable in it and it looks smart and it is good quality. They do 2 different browns. One which is quite bright and one which is dark. I got the dark brown.

See pic in my sig where she has her dressage number on.

I used to use black on her but brown in softer on the eye I think :)

Havent herd of the elevator bridle before..... *goes away to google it and get more confused*

As for saddle he is only 2 so doesnt have one yet!! Was hoping to buy a bates maybe so would just buy same colour as bridle.....

Any comments on bates?

Thanks guys!!!!

:)

Definately brown!! Elevators are lush im thinking of getting one for my boy but got to save up some more pennies :D Your horse is STUNNING btw!!! :O love coloureds :D

Another vote for elevators - they are expensive but last for years. Super soft padded leather that doesn't need lots of looking after - hoorah! They do have a crank noseband but I never do up tight so evenly distribute the tension. Hate black tack (even though have it with new horse - inherited and too poor to change to havana!!). Your horse would definetely suit havana, which is a safer choice (in case you want to show - black tack definetely frowned upon).

Just be careful with Bates - they are made to suit TB types. Even though they are adjustable they do not suit anything that isn't high withered, TB type. Yes, they can be altered, but only at the front of saddle - gullet will stay the same. And they are b****y uncomfortable - rock hard seat!!
