Just wondering what you use bridle wise (like nosebands) and bits for what disciplines including martingales??

My 15.2hh Welsh D
For everyday riding - Full Cheek Korsteel Flexi - Jointed with a plain cavesson noseband and sometimes a flash on it and running martingale.
For showing/shows - Hunter bridle as where correct with a loose ring jointed Korsteel flexi or she will be getting a Flexi/Rubber Pelham.
hunting/X-Country - Most likely going to be in a grackle and a pelham . Need to get that sorted though.

My 13.3 L/W cob
Plain cavesson noseband with a Copper enriched loose ring with lozenge or jointed loose ring.

Both in 5.5" bits

Tern.

For my lovely arab, I use a myler loose ring comfort snaffle, with cavesson nose band for schooling and lessons. For pleasure rides, hacking, anything in open spaces, I use a short shank, low port combination bit. Hardly need to touch the reins, just makes him drop his nose a bit if he gets ultra excited. Have to add the combination bit has a soft faux leather nose band rather than the hard raw hide.

Alf. cavesson noseband and a single jointed, curved mouthpiece eggbutt snaffle for everything, and has a double bridle, currently stored away in the hope that he will be able to do a bit of dressage again one day.

Spike. loose ring french link and cavesson for flatwork/hacking, unless he's going to be doing fast work, in which case he wears his jumping bridle, which has a dutch gag - he likes jumping and cantering out hacking a bit TOO much!

Jen (welsh d x) has a straight bar short shank Pelham and just a thick cavesson. She doesn't really need it but it's the bit she's happiest in and since she's late 20s no point faffing.

Jasper (sec a) has a simple loose ring jointed snaffle and cavesson for everything

Cob 1/'Lucifer' (!) - cavesson bridle with vulcanite pelham with roundings as he can be a tank!

Cob 2/Mikey - cavesson bridle with french link snaffle, then above combination for hunting and fun rides.

Plain nose band bridle, with cut away head peice for ears, and swap between either a lose ring shires sweet iron snaffle with copper lozenge or the same mouth bit but in a gag depending on if 15:1 horse is feeling 2 not 19!!!

The other two, 16:2 tb and 16:2 appy are ridde in the snaffle combo above.

Flash noseband, loose ring cherry roller snaffle and running martingale on my 16.2hh ID x. Only time I ever put a french link pelham with 2 reins in and no martingale is for showing and when I took him out mock hunting years ago. Dr cook occasionally if we're working on something and I dont want to interfere with his mouth.

Straight bar Mullen mouth hanging cheek with a grackle noseband. I only use the grackle as my mare has a funny shaped head and a cavesson is uncomfortable for her.

No1 horse (10yo 17.1 DWB SJ-er) has a single jointed Pessoa gag and a grackle, I occasionally hack and school in a single jointed loose ring sweet iron, but she's happiest in her jumping kit!
No2 horse (5yo 16hh KWPN) does everything in a NS verbindend and a cavesson, no flash.

My 14.3hh 5 yr old cob is in a straight bar happy mouth eggbutt with no noseband for all disciplines.

Have used a variety of bits but now do everything In a loose ring verbindend snaffle & cavesson noseband....for showing I swap to hunter bridle & pelham for cosmetic reasons :)

Loose ring snaffle with cavesson noseband for majority of schooling and hacking. Then for some schooling and showing swap from loose ring snaffle into neue schule team up snaffle and slimma weymouth for 5YO RID

16yr old cob has double bridle with long shank weymoth and either a cavesson nose band or a grackle if we are jumping

Flatwork - simple cavesson bridle (no crank) with flash and a loose ring french link snaffle

Jumping and XC - grackle bridle with full cheek waterford

Hacking - grackle bridle with loose ring happy mouth single-jointed snaffle

Hunting - who knows? Nothing we tried him in worked . . . he got far too excited and pulled like a train ;).
