I am taking my TB to a local riding club show on Monday and am planning to do the following classes; riding club horse, ridden novice and possibly novice working hunter. I normally ride him in a Micklem bridle and hanging cheek snaffle which he goes really well in.
I plan to do the working hunter in his Micklem, but can I get away with this for the riding club horse?
I would use an ordinary bridle with cavesson noseband for the novice ridden, but could I use the hanging cheek snaffle?

Thank you

You can use the hanging cheek for all 3 classes but micklem bridle really not appropriate in any! Use a caveson

Assuming RC horse has a jump in it micklem will be fine- people have done that class at SFAS in one :) And we all know how popular grackles are for WH so can't see micklem being different :) Remember to enjoy!

The problem with the micklem is that like a drop noseband it makes a horses face look very long and plain.

This is him at the last show I took him to 18months ago

And this is him in his Micklem - what do you think - does it make his head look too plain?

Would you use a coloured brow band for the riding club horse class? I wouldn't use it for the working hunter, but would for the ridden novice.
