I want to get a new bridle as i've only had my cottage craft one around 4 months and it is already cracking, and looks about 10 years old!

I'm wanting to get a highest quality long lasting bridle, i love the look of stubben bridles but read a few posts saying you pay more for the name than the quality, so now unsure about that! If i were to get a stubben i would get the 1300 Clare (the one with the elastic browband feature) in black with the flash noseband.

Should i get the stubben? is it worth £150? or is there any other better quality bridles (e.g jeffries, sabre?) that price or below? I'm wanting something that will last years and look good!

Please, please, please help

The horse I ride has a stubben and I really like it. The leather is so nice and soft but also tough! Others have had cheap ones and you can really tell the difference I think but not much experience of other higher quality brands.

I have the Jeffries IR Comfort bridle, padded cut away from the ears headpiece and crank padded noseband. I love this bridle, its really nice and good quality leather. I also have the Elevator bridle for my mare and that is equally very nice. Like you I wanted something that would last for a very long time, these 2 bridles should do just that!

I have a Stubben and its lush :p It's still in v good condition and have had it a couple of years. Only thing I'm not too keen on is the split headpiece as its the 3000 but it was the only Stubben I could afford at the time as was at college and only had a Saturday job.

I also love my synthetic bridle, which I use when raining so the Stubben doesn't have to get wet! It's lasted several years, cost v little and just goes in the washing machine if it gets wet/ muddy sec :D

The elevator bridles are lovely! I didn't have enough cash for one of those so I bought a comfort bridle from Evison Equine and I am really pleased with it...everyone in the yard commented on how good it is for the money.

hope that helps.

Im.in the process of looking for a new one as the mark todd we got the appy 5yrs ago has broken again and its not in a way that can be fixed.....the kiefer one i got the mare at the same time is sting still going strong so am going to look at that.

Stubben or Jeffries everytime. I have a Stubben that is over 20 yrs old and looks like new. Both clean well and don't crack.
Happy shopping x

The CTD stubben range is still very, very nice but not as expensive as the normal stubben bridles.

Kieffer is also super quality.

I love the Elevator bridle too.Mine is about 6 years old now and still looks good. Its padded over the ears and is designed for sensitive horses.I would happily recommed it and i promise i dont work for them!

I have the Albion KB bridle with a cavesson noseband. I absolutely love it, it's so soft and looks like new.

Thankyou everyone! think im going to go with a stubben, do you all think this bridle looks real (link at end of post), i am positive it is real as have compared it numerous times to shop photos and the photos on the ebay advert, just want second opinions before i decide to buy it! :)

^ make sure you scroll all the way down the page to look at all the photos, also read the description :)

:)

Also, me&Harvey, what do you mean by not getting your stubben bridle wet, will rain effect the bridle's leather, would you advise not getting it wet? :)

Stubben bridles are lovely, I had one for my last horse and it was really beautiful and so well made. The leather was really supple, it stayed looking clean and new and she always got complimented on it.
I just bought a jaguar bridle (liked the comfort headpiece) and I'm really impressed with that too, it's gorgeous! Hopefully should last forever... Sabre is nice too, and a lot of people like Jeffries but i've never had one myself.

- to starryeyed,

My friend had a Sabre bridle and it was lovely and seemed in good condition as it is about 3 years old, but i haven't found a nice style in the sabre, where as i have found a gorgeous stubben for £102 on ebay which i am positive it is real, (the link to the ebay advert is in a post of mine above) , so unless someone proves me wrong and the ebay bridle is a fake, i guess i'll be going with that one! :)

What type of bridle, size and style do you want? I have a brand new Jeffries traditional show bridle with plain reins... Tags still on, I bought it for Ebs but she never got to wear it, it's a cob size pm me if you are interested

my stubben looked tired after 6 months and i dont think the build quality is great to be honest, having said that im comparing it to my equipe one which cost 300 quid so no comparison i guess!

I had the Stubben 3000 with split head piece for my lad, I loved it.
Very impressed by the quality.

Equestrian Clearance have Stubben on special offer - I have had one in my 'shopping basket' for about two weeks while I dither over whether it will match my brown Prestige saddle
