Lily who has the rupture is doing very well but her udder is enlarged and deformed and now starting to crack. Vet advised cream but it hurts her if I touch it. I was wondering if there was something safe I could spray on? I,m also worried that she won,t produce milk, and if all goes well and they both survive will she let foal suckle? Got a couple of weeks to go, I,ll be a wreck by then! Any advise welcome, have tried foal bank but not got through so will try again.

You can get a nipple spray for human breast feeders, can't remember what it's called, but I'm sure if you asked in any of the bigger chemists they could advise

I used regular cow udder cream from the feed merchant - its the stuff used for milk cows.

Its brilliant stuff to keep around and I've used on heels to prevent mud fever, around my geldings sheath to help prevent midge bites and i've used it on my own feet when they were extremely sore after being soaked for countless days in a row.
