I have a "friend" that has two lovely Staffy type dogs. (One is a staffy and one is a staffy x English bull i think!) and I'm just worried that she isn't treating them right.
They do get fed once a day and have some access to water when the bowl is filled up! But they look healthy enough physically.
Its more their mental well being I'm worried for. The young male (recently neutered) is locked up in his crate all day apart from meal time so if he does get let out has some serious energy which he needs to burn off so rampages around the house and play fights with the other female staff she has.
The female staff is sent to her bed all day and not allowed off as she leaves hair on the floor and smells apparently. Smells like a normal dog to me! She also has lots of energy which isn't being used up so she rampages around the house too.
Their owner is constantly shouting at them both to shut up, get on their bed and she smacks them a lot too, not overly hard but she does it a lot.She also threatens them with a broom handle which does make them cower and shes admitted to smacking them with it in the past. They have a crate which is probably half a metre high and probably three quarters of a metre long and at that night and when she goes out both dogs are locked in the crate without water and in my own personal view its not big enough for both dogs. She locks them up as they eat cat poo and wee and poo on her floor downstairs.
What worries more is that she has a boisterous 4 year old in the house and has another child on the way. What if the dogs get so fed up they bite the child or the baby? it will be then their fault
.
Can i report her? Even though they do get fed? I've tried asking the rescue where she got them from but they didn't really care.
I've offered to take them out to agility but got shot down as its dangerous. And then told i was a disgrace as my dog was skinny. I have a greyhound!!
Not sure what I can do from here?
