What can I use on pony's cracked lips?

My pony has cracked lips. Nothing major and I only noticed when I cleaned his mouth today. As I wiped with a sponge, I noticed in between each little fold in his lip was a bit sore. Its not obvious to look at but it cant be nice for my pony.

Is there anything I can put on it or should I just leave it be?

Maybe abit of vaseline or sudocream of it is sore...? I swear by vaseline for my own lips in winter...

I thought vaseline as I use it on my lips too. He will probably just lick it off! xx

Rescue remedy cream is what I use in my horses moisturising and all natural

Zinc & castor oil cream always have a pot of this for lips

Elizabeth Arden eight hour rescue cream....... Yes I know..... Otherwise bit balm.... Vaseline can actually be drying on the lips....

I have used Iglu mouth ulcer gel with amazing results as it forms a protective layer and heals really fast! Expensive but well worth it!

Or an alternative view - Why are you washing his mouth?
I find washing my hands too much makes them chap - (and yes that includes just a water rinse)

on the other hand- zinc and castor is soft and sticks!
