What car do you drive?

i have a vauxall vectra 1.8lt runs on LPG not sure what it can fit in it as not really pushed it to see what i can get in....lol dont help spare wheel in boot as the LPG gas tank is where spare wheel should be . holds 55lts of LPG and can do 300miles to 55lits. and at 52.9 for LPG i aint nagging.......lol

I love my LWB Nissan Terrano, great for towing altho the bigger the car the more I can fit in it ATM it looks like my entire wardrode is chucked on the back seats, boot still full of waterproof rugs and clobber from SJ comp at the weekend.

But if I finally justify a lorry to myself rather than a trailer I would love a BMW Z3 & a Defender with chimney exhaust with all the trimmings :-) to do things the Z3 can't

A fiesta

and no it's not especially practical with the horses, but I generally get all my hay and straw delivered, my dog is only tiny, and I can fit my weekly feed shop in the boot no problem. Best of all though, a tank of petrol lasts me nearly a month

i drive a 3 door ford focus, not very practical for horses but i have had 5 bags of feed in the back seat before. i have had 4 bales of haylage or 3 bales of straw with the seats down.

I have a new fiesta, managed to get 5 bales of shavings in it the other day, i was quite surprised.
We are thinking about getting a little 4x4 as its hammering the fiestas going to the yard.

I have a Nissan Note which I love.... Good mpg, the back seats move forward so I can have more boot space.... Have managed to get 3 bales of Aubiose on the back seat before now.

Friend has a mini the little blue one with the white roof , its given her nothing but bother

. I do think they are cute looking and are quite nice inside

Oh yeah ....

I drive an automatic Landrover discovery TD5 , Love it, plenty of room in the back, without the seats down I can get 5 bales of shavings in . With the seats folded I can get near enough 12 bales .

We have had several discos and all been great .

I did have an alfa romeo 156 but it just wasn't practical enough, Hubbie has the van also so plenty of practicalities .

I got a new Mercedes A Class a month ago which is good car and can fit a lot in it but i ordered black interior not the very light grey one that they gave me it is completly useless for dogs, saddles and horse bits!!! I have to clean the seats everyday!!!

I have an L200 animal you can fit loads in it and it keeps all the muck, hay, straw, shavings and SMELL out of the actual car as the cab is seperate - you can just sweep it out!

It is not that cheap to run... although I do a lot of miles.

But I love the fact that the cab and the car is completly seperate!

Its good off road too...

They're wonderful aren't they?!?!?
The car we had before the Audi was an Astra & the speed bumps, pot holes etc didn't slow me down a bit but it's really not advisable to go whizzing over anything bumpy with the sports suspension, not if you value your spine anyway!!!!! Plus hubby would have a coronary if he saw me...

this is what I have, nearly broke another rib trying to shove shavings onto back seat, as they wont fit into boot space. grr - i love the car so much but it is just not a horse friendly car!

MY OH and I don't have a car each as such, we swap our two cars depending on who needs what. "My" car is a skoda fabia VRS 1.9 diesel. Very quick and very good on fuel - which is why my OH likes to take it on his 17 mile journey to work. "His" is a Landrover Defender 110 (ideal for the horse) but a G4 one so it's bright orange and has all the kit on it (it's like driving a satsuma and I am quite embarrassed by it). I try not to take it to work as even though its only 3 miles so better fuel wise, it doesn't fit in the multi storey car park I have a pass for, so have to find somewhere on the road and pay to park as well as being seen in it by people who know me. Sometimes I lose though.

I would have thought that the skoda, with the seats down would fit quite a lot in, but I'm not allowed to put anything horsey in it. OH loves his cars and is VERY protective of them so I'm only allowed horsey stuff in landrover. Even then he complains if I haven't brushed myself down before getting into it and I leave a blade of hay in there. He complains that the skoda is "filthy" at the same time as anyone who gets in it says "how do you keep it so clean?" His latest ploy is saying that the skoda is totaly unsuitable for us as I keep getting it dirty and letting the dog in it (crime of the century) and we should have a freelander. I'll have my new house first though, it's my turn to have something!

Peugeot 206 (X Reg, 1124cc petrol) ...

Practicality - 4 out of 5 - it's got a pretty big boot and plenty of space in the back, but it's quite low and not great on bumpy roads (not that that stops me ...), and it's only a 3 door.

Reliability -3 out of 5 - I think it may just be the age of mine (2000/2001), but bits - such as the exhaust - keep falling off of it.

Cost to run - 5 out of 5 - cheap to tax, cheap to insure, and does not much under 100 miles on a tenner of petrol.

I have an Audi R8.

Oh sorry, no, that's just in my dreams.

I have an Astra 1.6, which is also a tackroom. Due to recent thefts, I keep two saddles, two bridles, a roller and a selection of saddlecloths in the boots, which kills me in petrol driving to and from the yard 3 times a day... but I can't be bothered to keep taking them all out and putting them back. It's not entirely practical for feed and bedding, so I borrow Mum's Passat which is excellent in terms of boot space, can fit 6 bags of NedzBedz and my feed in that!

206 gti 2.0L 16v its like s*** off a stick!!! can get 4 bags of feed in and thats all i ever need at once and it was free
smile.gif
(53 plate but mum bought a 59 and got a good deal without a trade in so gave me hers
smile.gif
)
OH has a zsara vtr which is great for space but breaks down very reguarly (t reg)

I have a Vauxhall Corsa CC. It has a tiny boot and only fit 1/2 bags of feed. But its perfect form me 2 travel 2 work and to and from the yard, The dogs have a back seat 2 themselves with a cover.

ive got a Land Rover Defender double cab pick up - loadsa room in the pick up part for approx 10 bales shavings - bags of feed wise used to collect approx 20 bags and had plenty of room left

its not bad economy wise but for day to day work and making trip to work and back I have a very cheap run about - toyota IQ - saying that though its been to the feed shop and can get 2 bags of chop in the back - also went to the rug cleaners and picked about 20 rugs up and it coped well, its even been off roading and took 4 rolls of haylage wrap to the local farmer
grin.gif

VW R32 that OH bought me. Massively impractical, incredibly thirsty, batters the wallet every way it can. But oh my god, when you put your foot down...

Nissan 200sx. A sporty, rear wheel drive coupe. Only takes four people and the ones in the back would have to have their legs off below the knees it fit.
cool.gif

I however love it, its my dream car and i really dont want to get rid of it at any point, Cant fit much in it and as its lowered some of the lanes i go down are abit in
crazy.gif
it. Not very good on fuel but only when i drive it hard
wink.gif
.
If i was to be sensible i would get a smallish car like a Rav 4 3door.

Nissan terrano 2.7td
Small on space when you carry 4 dogs a lot, not too drastic on fuel considering. Would have bought a pick up again but this was actually cheaper to run than my L200 and I do nearly 20k a year so thats a major factor!

Vauxhall Corsa. Only had it a month but not a fan. Pretty silvery blue, but underpowered, the headlights are crap, and just discovered that if I hold the steering wheel a bit too tightly, like in the strong gusty winds we've had recently, the horn toots and I get filthy looks from other road users. Am considering selling it and going back to my trusty Clio!
