What car would you buy for £4k?

I've just got a new job (yippee) so have decided to buy myself a car! I've got a budget of up to £4000 but would prefer less if at all possible!

It would only be a weekend & evening car as I catch the train to work so I want something fun rather than practical!

What would you have if you were me?
