What causes bitchiness on yards?

Been thinking about it and have to say that the bitchiest yards I've been on have alot of teenagers. Not saying all are like that (I was one once!) but seems to be the root of problems.

I've been on two yards with mostly adults and they were alot more chilled although you always have the 'know it all' liverys - but just choose to ignore them!

So what do you think causes the problems?

In my experience it's people who just can't be happy for other people! They have to find fault and criticise all the time! Poor people, I feel sorry for them!

The biggest bitches on the two yards I know are both blokes..........................................nothing worst than a bitchy queen IMO.

I've always found young adults (early 20s) the worst, followed by children (11/12 year olds), reason being the kids think their grown ups and the adults never grew up.

that said anyone on my yard who doesn't give as good as they get doesn't last more than a few weeks. i'm so glad i'm leaving!

But I find the people who are nastiest are the ones that are jealous of your life OFF the yard....not on the yard....weird as it is!

I am on a relitively small yard. All adults bar me and another girl who are both 16. In my situation its the YO that stirrs. When she is on the yard frequently people bitch for Britain, mainly about me, and she just intervenes, is a complete hippocrate and has no respect for me.. I just ignore them..
I was on a big yard with alot of kids and I tell you, the amount of stuff that went walkies and the rumours that were spread! Apparently I threatened someone with a knife (That is an example of a rumour - Not true!)
I think it depends on the people on the yard. Some people are there to enjoy horses, others are thieving little hippocrates that can afford a horse.

I feel better now that I have gotten that off my chest

Ohhh! I really agree with that too!

I was once on a yard with them and us. Our side and the posh side. Our side was lovely. The posh side although i got on with them were evil to some on our side. Realy picked on a teenager who infact was lovely and knew more than them!
I have met bitches of all ages.
I left a stables once as i was so tempted to stick the pitchfork in someone. They did not know i was there!!!

Have to agree with Galaxy23 here, I find that I get bitched about because I try to better myself and my horse by having lessons and competing as much as I can. Most of the people at my yard are happy hackers or have a horse and dont even ride.......

Funny how I never really appreciated my parents having their own land as a kid - I'm quickly realising how many nutters have horses!

People with too much time on their hands.
People who cannot keep their noses out of other's business.
Outright nastiness.

You know, that is my YO down to a T..

Do you know Izzy, I just had to look back and check where you're from as your YO sounds just like my old one, I actually thought that they could be one and the same!

I would say that teenagers CAN be bitchy but then, they are teenagers!

It is the adult bitchiness I hate, usually stemming from the 'I know all there is to know' school and/or the complete lack of friendliness - it takes two seconds to smile an say hello - and makes someone new feel included. How hard can it be!

I also hate 'one-up manship' & people who look down their noses at cobs & Heinz57s just because they aren't purebred.

I find it tends to be people in their late teens/early twenties.

Having said that at my last yard the biggest bitches were the ones that should know better.

Luckily im on a great yard now with a mix of adults and kids and we havent had any problems.

Well done to you, Arwen!
I could never bring myself to speak to cob owners or even part-bred owners (and as for natives, urgh). It's nice to know some of you with decent horses, and therefore knowledge, are willing to do missionary work with these low class owners.

I'm sorry, but I'm not prepared to converse with you until I am assured of the pedigree of all your horses?
