What class can I enter her in? Very confused!

Hello all and Happy easter!!!

Well I am thinking of poss showing little monkey somewhere this year!! She is 3 tomorrow!!!!!!!

What classes can I enter, she is TB X hanovarian and new forest. What kind of halter/bridle and lead rope would she need and what on earth would I wear?

Also, what happens in the show ring, what do I need to do and does the judge touch the horse?? Not planning this for another 4 or so months yet as need to practice the loading!

Depending on size you could put her in a m&m cross class as she has new forest in her, means you wont have to plait her up. If you are showing her in hand most judges prefur you to ware nuetral couored trousers and black shoes rather then jodpurs and boots They also prefur to see a inhand bridle and show cane instead of a normal ones but I wouldn't worry about that to start with. I do M&M with my cob as he looks a bit like a dales cross. I usally were a navy tweed jacket , black velvet hat, navy tye white shirt , navy glove and carry a black show cane. Hope that some help:)

thank you that is very helpful. shes about 14.1..at the minute anyway :) would i get less points for m&m due to her only being 1/4 nf? i have a tweed jacket so can i wear this with cream shirt, a tie, cream trousers, black jod boots? with black gloves? and do i wear my riding hat with black silk?

so monkey would have an in hand bridle with what type of lead rope, a leather one or those white ones with the chain? i need a cane anyway for when i *rarely* do showing with my cob
 
The judge isn't allowed to touch the horse either, not for conformation anyway. Only thing they are allowed to do subtly is move the tail to the side to see the quarters and back end. :)

i think you could get away with it try it and find out she is very similar in looks to a little newforest x i used to own. I have a brown leather lead reign with brass couplings and it looks really smart If you can i would get a velvet silk but its a matter of prefrence:) sorry about my spelling:o

ooo thats ok then :)shes is good, but due to a bad experience before i had her, she can get iffy about back legs being touched,

so she could go in young sport horse, hunter type and poss m&m. any more? I think she would look very smart plaited up!

havanna bridle or black? this showing lark is very precise, but good fun!
 
Definatly havana. For M&M you need it to be as plain as possible but I think in the other ones jou may be able to jazz it up a bit not sure though.

:D:D fun is an understatement. Horsey shopping my favorite:D
 
If it says M&M on schedule, make sure it doesn't say registered.... You need to look for part bred or non-reg...
 
Thank you. So do you think she would do well in the in hand classes? Never shown before and don't mind where we come, its all about the experience.

ooo i dont mind plaiting :) I think it will be quite fun! I have seen those nice in hand bridles which are black and have those gold type buckles...am I thinking for the wrong sort?

i got brass buckles on mine and there all lovely and shiny
i like shiny things:D

come down to suffolk i'll take you to my favorite tack shop its great it looks really small but its like a warren and there is stuff every were:):D:D:D just make sure we have the ohs credit card :)
 
You could also try doing a few in-hand condition and turn out classes as you get a lot of young horses in these classes. There can be anything from a Shetland to a Shire in them, but it's all good experience for your young lady.

I personally would go for a sports / hunter type class .

I would also definitely plait .

Cream trousers, green tweed, shirt and tie to compliment the jacket .

Brown jodphur boots, along with brown gloves .

Trilby type hat if you really want to go the whole hog .

A cheaper version of a show cane is a bamboo cane,cut down to size and varnished . (works a treat ;) ) .

Bridle wise ... havana with brass buckles and clencher type browband . Nylon showing bit and brass coupling or leather one with brown lead rein .

IMO the best thing you can do is to go and watch as many classes as you can while you are training her to load. This will give you a feel for the sort of class she would fit into and the best clothes for you to wear. It will also give you an idea of ringcraft.
