I am hoping to be able to enter my share horse into a show at some point but i dont know what class he would be able to enter. He is an 18yr old 16.2hh bay TB. He does not jump anymore due to suffering from laminitis (obv he is sound now!) he isn't the best schooled horse! He carries his head where he wants to and refuses to come down on the bit and usually gets worked up if you ask him to do this.

So, i was wondering if anyone thinks he is still worth showing and if so, what classes would best suit him?

I would say if he doesn't like to be in a reasonable outline stick to some inhand classes- veteran, hunter or riding horse?

, most local shows will also have a less serious (but hotly contested!) ring which you can do ridden or in hand with most handsome gelding, mane, tail, most appealing face, most like owner, judge would most like to take home etc etc. So if you just want to take him out and have a little fun on him they might suit?

there is nothing to stop you doing any ridden classes with him but if he doesn't go reasonably sweetly, depending on the level of the show he might not be placed.

way of going won't matter so much in the 'fun' classes but in the other classes it will.

Just enjoy him! shows are suppose to be fun whatever you end up doing and noone is going to tell you you shouldn't be in the ring unless he does something really naughty

Yeah im thinking maybe an inhand class, and a couple of 'fun' ones. he hasn't done much in his 18yrs as he's been passed from pillar to post so just want to try and make up for some of the things he has missed out on.
