Hi all,
I'm going to try showing in the next few weeks. We'll only be doing small local shows, but I would like to do it right first time!

First, what should I turn him out as?
He's ISH, a straight mover and 15.2hh. I know he isn't lightweight hunter type, and isn't heavy enough for middle so I was thinking small hunter classes.

Next, could I get some turnout advice.
His tack is as follows--brown gp saddle, brown plain hunter bridle (thinner noseband), shaped brown numnah, Pelham with double reins (only for outings), plaited mane and pulled/banged off tail.
Me- brown tweed, yellow tie, beige jodhpurs and brown long boots. Brown gloves.
I have a skull cap currently but I am willing to purchase a navy velvet hat, or would a velvet cover be acceptable?

Shall I use a small amount of makeup on him and black hoof oil or is that overkill?

Hopefully the pictures work, the first is a few years old.
Thanks in advance :) FB_IMG_1617123357535.jpgFB_IMG_1619436983032.jpg

You could do riding horse or riding club horse as well at local level your turnout sounds fine.

You could use a bit of oil on the face and eyes black hoof pain is ok you do see it at local level I think it's down to personal choice, higher up some breed societies don't allow it.

Thank you guys :)

Another one, they didn't have the option of a small hunter class, just a group hunter or a general riding horse class which is what I chose. By the looks of previous months, there are a mix of people with fancier riding horse and plain hunter turnout in it. Which would be better suited to us?
There isn't much to change, just a plain browband and yellow tie or a ribbon show browband and matching tie.

I'm definitely overthinking this haha
