Hi I have a 17hh Bay Irish Draught and as he is retired from jumping due to being 17, I'm thinking of showing him. Just for fun, dont expect to be winning championships or winning at all for that matter, but I always wanted to try showing. However when looking at showing classes near me, I'm confused about what (if any) classes he is eligible to show in? The classes seems to be breed specific near me in the North of Scotland, e.g. Highland Pony, Shetland Pony, Clydesdale... but no Irish Draught class.
So I wondered are there actually any classes he can enter? There doesnt appear to be best turned out, handsomest gelding or just fun/ general classes near me...
I saw in one show there was a light horse class, but does an Irish Draught count as a light horse?
Also the Mountain and Moorland classes- who are they for? Would he be eligible for M&M?

M&M’s are for highlands, Dales, Welsh etc- they’re your native pony classes. At a local level you’d be looking at hunters, light horse classes, veteran, riding club horse etc. Some shows just have generic ridden horse classes usually split into heights too. Then you could always do in hand classes too.

Heavy horses are Clydesdales, Shires, Suffolk Punches, etc. Some shows only wat British Heavy Horses others will allow foreign Draft Horses (not ID). Others horses (not ponies) are 'light horses'. As above, a photo would help posters to say which classes would best suit.

As above. Also has he stopped all jumping? If still doing some lower key jumping, perhaps working hunter also?
