Please humour me - I can't seem to make a decision to save my life recently

Chum is due a clip again - he currently has a Chaser clip but whatever I decide he will have at least a Blanket clip as he is still getting quite sweaty on his neck etc on a normal hack and he takes ages to dry off as he has such a thick coat.

I am going hunting on 5th Dec (yippee) and will probably go at least another 4 times this season. YO has suggested maybe a Hunter clip because he does sweat a lot through excitement. I will have to purchase a H/W turnout and stable rug if I do this but that's not really a problem.

In the winter he normally has 2 x 2hour hacks inc a fair bit of trotting and cantering per week plus another quick hack and lesson if possible.

So, what would you do? A blanket clip? Or a hunter clip? Or something else.

Here is a picture of us hunting for the first time last season (any excuse to post this picture I love it

). He had a blanket clip with half the face left on - he has the whole face taken off ATM which is proving to be a lot better. You can see that he sweated quite a bit ( we had only gone round a couple of fields at this point) and he has a very thick coat. My tack took a bit of a battering from the sweat.

I am sorting out rugs. I will leave his legs on and because we have had some back issues due to saddles (fingers crossed sorted now) I will probably leave a saddle area on too.

Yes leave his legs on and leave a saddle area on, but please dont do a numnah shaped one

Ok - next question.....

I like the Amigo Insulator (great fit/good price) but do I need a stable rug with a neck if clipped out more than usual?

I really need one of those gadgets that makes decisions for you...

All off now I would say.
Next year you could try taking it all off for first clip & then for 2nd clip eith a blanket or a high trace but take the neck off as well if that makes sense. As his coat will be thinner from having it all removed on first clip whilst it is still warmer as well???
