what clip will your horse be having this winter (if any)

My cob will be fully naked!! head legs and mane! he is hunted and shown, and inbetween is rugged up to the eyeballs mainly so i dont feel guilty, he usually manages to wiggle out of them!

My TB's having a chaser, he had a trace last year but that I feel was too much. So we'll have a chaser instead :) can always take more off if needed.

Horse is coming back into work, first clip end Oct I plan, low chaser to start and providing fitness comes up and she needs it, I plan hunter clip in Jan.

Fully clipped!! I don't like waiting for lines to grow out come spring, Mine is in work anyway and with the super rugs we have today there's no worry about horses getting cold!

Hunter Clip for first next week, then just a blanket as he live's out 24/7
The ex-racer will just have a blanket clip. Both will full heads off as the pony
gets the fluffyiest ears you could think of , and they're like sponges (:

Blanket definitely for Fany plus half face at least, maybe some neck as well. Will leave her Ugg boots on. Captain nothing he doesn't need clipping has a very fine coat, which is just as well as he hate clippers!

depending on if the woman who does a clipping service gets back to me,
a hunter clip in October sometime, as early as possible. she is still tubby and needs to lose some pounds!
in December time a chaser clip and then another hunter clip in early Feb (maybe, just got the idea!)

I am going to literally clip everything bar head and saddle patch off Jack this coming week. He was still sweating so much with a high trace clip last year... even when we had the snow, and it's just not fair for him to be standing around wet, but he certainly has a wide variety of rugs to wear this winter, so he shouldn't miss his fuzz too much :o:p

taz got a modified chaser clip, took all the neck off so clipped from wither to stifle in a chaser clip style he sweats alot on his neck and under his saddle so a blanket clip just doesnt cut it, will be taking the whole lot off in three weeks once i get back from my holiday, but untill then the clip he got yesterday will do for two weeks untill i go, willbe living in once full clipped

Kia has a blanket clip just now then at end of October beginning of November he will get a full clip including legs and face and that should se him through until spring if not he will get another full clip in Jan.

Eowyn was going to be getting one full clip middle Of november but since shes not going to be in work as shes on box rest with a tendon injury she will be left to get hairy :)

Leaving my tb unclipped this winter as won't be riding much, get a frozen ménage and have a baby, so being realistic this year!! :( He normally has a chaser clip. My id will remain unclipped too!

Full clip bar legs and half her face.
Mainly because she winters well and even if I give her a blanket clip she still sweats up so a full clip it is! Plus they look so much nicer ;)
If I can get her legs off this year I will.

Exactly this. He has turned funny about his legs so everything else and half a head. He has mahoosive feather but the only way I'll get that off is with heavy sedation. Don't fancy it really. :(

First day of clipping for me today - 3 full clips and one blanket clip. 2 nice ponies who barely even flinched, one who is a sodfor the first 10 mins and when you go anywhere near his head then he shuts up and goes to sleep, and the final one had never been clipped before and she was a total and utter cow! Couldn't go anywhere near her head, did get the rest done after much cow kicking, biting, rearing, spinning, bucking and general running around! Unfortunately I couldn't get her sedated as it was too close to her next race so I just had to like it or lump it.

Oh well! 4 down - only another 200 or so to go!

Chaser clip but quite a high version to take off as much as possible plus half his head. He's a tb who I hope will be in a reasonable amount of work. I like to leave hair on his back as he doesn't like his bum getting wet and think a chaser clip suits his conformation better than a blanket clip.

Full - but legs will be left on, and possibly half head (depends how he tolerates it) and a very small oval where the saddle goes :) Hate legs clipped, I see no reason for it unless for a show cob or medical reasons!

He gets a clip as it is easier for me to manage him with a clip :) He won't be clipped however for at least another month or 2, as he is on his hols! :)

Hunter, either with or without saddle patch. I'm not sure whether to leave it or not, he's never had all (bar half head probably and legs) off. Friend told me it seems pointless leaving a saddle patch on?

how come people keep saying a modified hunter clip leaving legs half face and saddle patch. That is a hunter clip no modification. If all off then its a full clip!! Sorry just annoyed me slightly. People at yard say that too which p*sses me off

wagtail i completly agree. Thats like my question 2 above about people not knowing what hunter clips are. They leave legs on to allow the horses some protection. I used to clip my old boys kind of stupid feathers off as he got feather mites and mud fever so gave me a better base to clean. but wouldnt dream of taking my Tb's off!!
