What clip will yours get this year and what work are they in?

Mine is always fully clipped as A) he's a hot horse, B) I can slightly under-rug him so he loses his summer podge (!) and C) because he'll be in full work and doing a lot this winter.

Mine don't come in at night till Dec, so usually trace clip beg Nov, then everything but legs in Dec. Last year daughters just had traces, but in more work this year so will also have the lot of. Worked 5/6 days a week, jumping, schooling, hacking etc. Anything from an hour to several hours hacking at wkend. Daughters will hunt this year too.

Jango has just had a full clip as he gets really hairy (welsh D) really early, but his next clip will be a blanket clip November time when his coat has fully come through, then see what the weather is like in March. He's in medium work, 5-6 days hacks, elementary dressage schooling/shows and occasional jumping lessons and xc schooling.

Hunter Clip for mine, he grows a very thick coat and looks like a wooly mammoth:eek:  Also I clip myself and find lines never end up straight even though I do all the chalking out, he is ridden 4 or 5 times a week, RC lessons once or twice a month and Dressage a couple of times a month

I'm not sure what to give Vinnie yet. He was living out in Spain and barely worked, so was left au naturel. Now though, I'm working him 6 days a week and he is stabled at night. He barely has any coat coming through yet and I don't know how much he will get as this is his first full winter here, so we will have to wait and see. Might give him a trace in Oct/Nov if he starts getting too hot.

Blanket.

Although I only ride about 3 times a week he does get v hot and when he does work he usually works quite hard eg fast hacks/ jumping lessons/ flat work sessions where he is on the move a lot.

I leave half a head on- not keen on the whole head shaved plus he goes "odd" when his head gets cold but like the smartness of half a head.

He also has plenty of rugs so wont be stood around cold.

Would like to do full clip but cant justify it due to the amount of work.
