Well my lister stars have broke yet again.. 3/4 of a clip after they were serviced. Motor needs replaced for 2nd time. I only have 2 horses (thick coats) thinking it may be better so buy new as these seem to be flaky.

Cordless would be much more convenient as currently have to run an extension cable 30m so can't clip on wet days..

I use various ages of Lister Laser's - 8-20 years old. All still going strong with a bit of maintenance every year (small things).

I also use a 2yo pair of Liveryman Black Beauty clippers and I LOVE them, and hate them. They are powerful, lightweight, go ar varying speeds and you can get them cordless. I hate them because the motor went on me today halfway through a clip. I am hard on clippers. I need a set that will clip 10 horses a day without faltering and until today they have. In the last 3 days they have clipped 8.5 super, super hairy tb's which has obviously over taxed them compared to the early season clips and reclips they normally do.

We also have a set of Masterclip somethings and they are the most god awful clippers I have ever used in my entire life. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, ever.

Heiniger cordless make sure you get one with two batteries sometimes see it as an offer. Would never go back to corded clippers. I have had mine over 15yrs still going strong

Masterclip Roamers. I’m not an experienced clipper but I’ve had no issues with using these for several Hunter clips and a full clip on a friends cob when her clippers kept cutting out after she’d done half a neck. They’re on the cheaper side too.

I have the Heiniger Xplorer ones too and they are very good with my two - both cob types with thick coats. Get an extra battery though.

They are cordless, I just bought some on recommendations on here and love them. Although took a bit of getting used too after 20 years of Worsley ones
Oops I must have the other ones, the non cordless. Is it the experience? Still Heiniger, still good!!!

My friend has the Masterclip roamers. They are good for getting through thick wooly native coats but are a tad on the noisy side and quite heavy. I have big hands so don't have any trouble, I can see why Elf doesn't rate them though. Bonus for us is that I can use my Lister blades with them. I used to have set of Lister Showman that ran off car battery-they were lovely.

I have lister liberty clippers. They’re a heavier duty clipper and get through my yak ok. There seems to be loads of issues with the stars, no idea why. I still have a pair of lister neons that work 20 odd years later!

Liveryman black beauties are expensive, but I’ve had mine 6 years and they’re absolutely brilliant. You could try and find some second hand.

I have these and they are brilliant. I always buy slightly heavier duty clippers than I really need as it makes the job easier and the clippers ultimately last longer if they don’t have to work so hard.

I just bought a set of Lister Eclipse having LOVED my Liberties (I upgraded to the Lithium battery which were a huge improvement on the older style ones)
Never thought the Liberties could be beaten but, I started to get fed up with the battery/belt combo as I have a dodgy hip so got the completely cordless and much lighter/easier to hold, Eclipse and they're AMAZING.
Better than the Liberty, battery lasts longer, is quicker to charge and an extra battery is only £45 not that I have needed to use it yet as battery life is over 2.5 hours. Glide though my cobs thick coat and feather plus hog him too
