I have a german warmblood and I am not sure what colour he is. he has pink skin with loadz of black speckles (but you can only see that if he is wet!) he is a very light chestnutty colour with a brown tail and a gingery mane! he has a dorsal stripe and stripes at the top of his legs! he has 3 white socks and a white stripe down his face! Does anyone know what this colour would be called?

Interestingly I have been researching similar colours as my new foal is very similar - it yours was a Highland it would be a Fox Dun, in the Quarterhorse world they would call it Red Dun - if you google Red Dun you will see lots of examples or there are pictures and links in this HHO thread

Pale chestnut?

I used to believe that duns had black points, mane and tail and dorsal stripes so I wouldn't have said dun, but now I am totally confused by the variations that there are and anything seems to be possible.

Enfys, I understand, from what I have read, that they can have a black or red base to the coat, but if the base is red then black is not present so red duns will not have the black points you see on other shades of dun.
