What colour is she going to be?

I dont post here much but was wondering if i could have some colour ideas on my 2 month old filly foal. Dad is black and mum is grey,prone to throwing dun babys.

Her half brother and sister are homo dunalino and red dun.

Well i'd of said the same when she was born however she does have a dorsal stripe and zebra markings on her legs.Her brother was born palomino but became dunalino.He looked like a washed out red dun when he first arrived!

I would definitely say she carries the dilute gene and is showing as a palomino, (they can also show a counter shading strip down their backs).

This little colt of ours had a very pronounced dorsal strip and we though he was a dunalino.

But he has lost it now and is 100% a palomino.

However, if she has the primiative markings ie. zebra stripes down the legs, then she possibly could also carries the dun gene and be a dunalino.

As with most foals, until they shed out, you really never know.

Looking at the photos again, and the parentage, she could also carry the grey gene, which would account for the grey hairs in the tail.

Another cutie, So dad carries chestnut, he's the easy bit! Hidden under mum's grey is a cream gene, can't see her eyes so presuming only one, a dun gene (possibly two) and a base colour of black carrying chestnut or a chestnut! Do you have any pictures of mum when she was a foal? I agree that the filly looks like she has mum's grey. So difficult to tell with baby coats.

I would say red/apricot dun carrying grey.

She is very similar to Milo when he was a bub, that gorgeous pale palomino colour, but he got gold and red in his old age.

However, he's never had the white hairs!

She's a 'wait and see' I'd go for palomino looking at the colour of her muzzle, but with a grey Mom -hmmmmmm. One of my palominos has grey/black in his tail (palomino sire and dam) and one of the mares has a very distinct dorsal stripe, she's 12 now.
